"Any time you find your companion angry, and speaking in a manner that does not befit him, then you should not take what he says to heart, nor blame him for his tirade, for he is like a drunkard who does not know what he says.

Rather, be patient, and do not let his words affect you, for Shaytan has played with him such that his nature has been overtaken and his intellect hidden. And if you do find yourself getting angry, then imagine yourself as the intelligent one facing a madman: (if you act foolishly) the blame is actually on you!

Instead, look at him with pity and mercy, and realize that as soon as he awakens from his anger, he shall regret what he has said, and shall acknowledge your superiority, and give you credit for your patience. The very least your patience will accomplish is that it will not exacerbate the foolishness of his anger.

But most people do the exact opposite of the above, and respond to anger with anger, and this is in contrast to wisdom."
