johnny POV:

"What's the news, Ma?" Darian asks

"Unfortunately, Maddie can't come today, she might be here tomorrow, and if she isn't, she might not come at all." she says

"I knew it! The 10 minute rule!" I say.

They both glare at me strangely, thinking that I'm happy that Maddie isn't coming. I mean I truly am not happy, but yet happy at the same time. I'm happy because I knew it, and because she won't tease me and act all 'you cute little baby'.

"Sorry," I say

"But we have more news," Mom says as she takes her dripping rain boots and her navy blue raincoat.

"I was in heartbreak when I heard, but Lauren might have to have a surgery to remove the tumor from her brain, and if it doesn't go well, she will have seizures." Mom says, and soon on frowns.

"Don't say it again, Johnny." Darian says

"I was planning to but, I won't," I say

I kneel down by Lauren's side.

"Lauren, please." I say

All of a sudden, eyes open, and she tries to fix her position.

"Lauren!" I say, hugging her gently since she's not in the best condition.

"Hi," she whispers

"Hi sweetheart!" Mom says

"Lo! You're finally back!" Darian says

We all hug her, but then again I remember, she has to go to surgery.

"Well guys, me and Lauren have to talk about some things," Mom says

Me and Darian nod synchronized, and we walk out of the room, onto the waiting chairs outside of it.

"I think they're talking about the tumor," Darian says

"I think so as well," I say

"This might take a bit long, so do you wanna get some ice cream?" She asks

"Sure," I say

As we are eating our freezing cold ice cream, I take notice by how long they've been talking.

My ice cream is cookie dough, the best flavor, and Darian's is mint chocolate, the worst flavor.

The girl has weird taste! Why would you like mint and chocolate together? It's as much weird as that I haven't met Kylie Jenner.

"Darian, why do you even like mint chocolate? It doesn't even taste good." I say, in disagreement.

"It actually tastes delicious! When you're actually mature you'll understand," she says

"I am mature! I actually know good flavors! Like cookie dough," I say

"Johnny, Johnny," she says

"Darian, Darian," I say

"You guys can come in now," Mom says as she opens the door.

I take a seat, by Lauren's right.

"Lauren has to go to surgery, and I hope it will go well, so pray for her," Mom says

"Can I speak with Johnny? For a moment please," Lauren says

"Seriously? No one wants to talk with me," Darian says

"Don't worry D, we'll catch up soon," Lauren says

Mom and Darian leave the room, and I think they're gonna go to the café downstairs.

"So John, how's the reasons?" she asks

"I finished them, but don't worry, I'll be there with you once you can get out of here," I say

"But I might not be here, John." she says

"Maybe later," I say

"Later, I might be in surgery," she says

"I don't really want to talk about it," I say

"Then I'll never know," she says

"Who even said you're going to be gone later?" I say, angrily.

"Fine then. Any news?" she asks

"Kenzie's death isn't final, meaning she still might be alive, but in an unknown area." I say

"Pfft, I saw that coming." she says

"You just want me to tell you, don't you?" I say

"Come on! Tell me John!" she says

"Now is not a good time," I say

"Now is! Do you even know what will happen later?" she says, irritated.

"Do you even know if you'll die? What if you stay alive? You're literally almost 15, and I know you won't die at this age!" I say

"What if I do, John?" she says, as a tear fell down against her cheek.

"You won't," I whisper

"But John," she says

"Don't 'John' me." I say
