Hi! Before the chapter begins, I'd like to mention that whatever words spoken that are said in Korean will have a * in front of it as my actual Korean is far from perfect, despite attempting my best to learn it I'm not quite able to translate everything just yet. I hope that is okay! :)

Chapter Two

Y/T - Your Topping

"Pathetic," I mumble, staring myself down in the mirror across from me, the sun's glint beaming through my almost transparent curtains and bouncing off into the distance. I've been frowning since I opened my eyes, pitying myself for having to begin a new school without Emily by my side. I need to be stronger than that... I puff out my cheeks, straightening the blue and yellow skirt that hugs my hips and thighs. It takes a smaller while to finally agree that I'm presentable enough to introduce myself to this new world but when I do, I grab my bag with an annoyed sigh and hop down the stairs; making my way to the new clutterless kitchen. My mum stands with a pan in her hand, a grin painted on her face whilst she flips a pancake, clearly amused with herself. She notices me and giggles, adding it to the growing pile on the dining table, an abundance of toppings sprawled out around them. The smell is incredible! It's almost so amazing it could evaporate my bad mood but sadly that sticks.

"Smells great!" My dad begins, rushing into the kitchen from behind me with his shirt a mess and an untied tie hanging around his pale neck. He takes a seat almost immediately, digging into the pancakes with no hesitation and mixing so many toppings I would be sick if I tried it. He's always had the sweet tooth compared to us, and I'm the youngest!

"Well, since you're starting your job today I thought I'd make a better breakfast than toast or cereal." My mum giggles, sighing whilst she stands in front of the man looking to be imitating a five-year-old with the syrup stains around his lips and clothes a complete mess. "Look at you." She grunts, folding his sleeves properly, gently rolling them twice and then straightening the whole shirt down his torso. Proceeding, she redoes some of the small white buttons he misplaced whilst he continues eating his pancakes, utterly unphased by my mother's fuss. Once his shirt is decently in place, she ties his tie for him and pats him down properly.

"What would I do without you?" My dad finally laughs, finishing up his meal and wiping away all the mess that was initially around his mouth but now across both cheeks. I chuckle at them, adding more Y/T to my pancakes and then finishing up myself, my stomach now uncomfortably full.

"I hope you both have an amazing day!" My mum eagerly calls from the door as my dad gets into his car and I stand outside saying goodbye to him myself.

"Are you sure you don't want me to drive you to school?"

"Remember, I did the walk yesterday so I know where I'm going and I'd quite like to do it again." I smile, stepping back as he nods and closes the door hesitantly.

"Okay. Have a good day, I love you."

"I love you too." Once the goodbyes are over with, I stroll down the gravelly path, small nearly leafless oak trees shading branches across my way whilst my toes crunch over the fallen autumnal amber leaves that thinly coat the ground. It's the perfect morning, the kind where the temperature is just right. It isn't too hot, nor too cold and the air is freshly crisp. However, soon the rejoicing walk come to an end and I'm faced with a long, painted white building, a large sign stating its purpose booming in front of my face. School. Bustling and chaotic students pass by, laughter and constant chatter echoing around me. I keep my head high, despite the sudden stares and whispers. I knew it would happen, it's inevitable, moving to a new school kind of promises that attention; wanted or not. As I knew it'd happen, I had mentally prepared myself but I've never experienced this before, it's more intimidating than I thought it would be.

*"Who is she?"

*"I've never seen her around." Several comments snap around me, shooting in all directions. Although, attempting to ignore the murmurs and whispering I put my headphones in and turn the volume to max.

The day is pretty average, I learn the same things I'd learn at home, except in a different language. No one has spoken to me, but then I haven't spoken to anyone, talking to strangers just isn't one of my talents. Everyone resumed the chitter-chatter about me when each break would take place, however, by now I couldn't care less. As long as my headphones stay in, the most I have to endure is the cold or curious stares. Although, just as I continue to complain in my own mind about the annoyance of ignoration there's a light tap on my right shoulder. Hesitantly, I spin around but come face to face with one of the friendliest faces I had ever witnessed. Standing in front of me is a small and petite girl with perfectly ironed clothing and adorable plump rosy cheeks. Her eyes are a chocolate brown with a slight tint of a hazel mist overlaying the undertone, but in contrary to the dark colours they scream obvious kindness.

*"Hi." She beams, hugging the books in her arms tightly whilst she looks down at me sitting on the rickety bench.

*"Hello..."

*"I noticed you're new and I know what people can be like around here, so, I wanted to see how you were." She states nervously but then tilts her head to the side. "Scrap that. I'm Yuna and I thought we could be friends?" I grin, nodding my head with a laugh.

*"I'd love that!"
