Second Person POV
You watched, cringing the whole while. The only two you were paying attention to were Yuno and Asta. And Yuno was doing wonderful. But Asta was not. Plus, every time you looked at Asta, there was some other guy with a greedy-looking face.
All Asta did was shriek. He had no magic, so the tests weren't made for him.
Yuno, on the other hand, with tons of mana, great control, and a flexible, strong magic element like wind...
"[Name]-chan, I think that the wind user there is really good."
... Yuno was definitely going to have at least one offer to join.
Hit targets, moving and unmoving. Make a seed grow. And mold your magic to create something.
Asta did absolutely nothing in any of these.
You brought out a deck of cards and faced Leopold. With the straightest face that would put Yuno's to shame, you asked him, "Wanna play poker?"
Fuegoleon looked over, and took the deck of cards carefully. "No betting."
"But I don't get paid anything," you cried, which was a lie. You got paid, you just gave everything away to the church.
They all looked to Yami. He shrugged.
"Not my fault that the others take her pay."
"""......."""
".... [Name]-kun? What about pocket money?" Rill tried.
"I give it to the orphanage," you muttered, basically telling the truth. Your money was your own pocket money, which you gave to the church. "Luckily, basic living needs are free in the base." You sighed, slumping your shoulders, half-aware that you may be looking pitiful. But if it meant money to buy stuff and give away, then...
Fuegoleon was about to give you money. Then, the Vice-Captain of the Coral Peacocks stepped forward. With sparkles, thousands of perfumes, and flying flower petals following the unbelievably beautiful, syrupy man, he held your hands.
You blinked, surprised as he was actually shedding pearly tears. Why was this person so pretty?
"You poor, beautiful thing." He placed an incredibly heavy, decorated pouch of money into your hands. It jingled. "Take this, and use it for yourself. Us beautiful people must stay together in this ugly world. Come to the Coral Peacocks."
"Erm, thanks."
They just stared, completely forgetting that they were supposed to be judging the Knight wannabes.
You used two elements. And though volatile, you simply needed training. Your grimoire reacted oddly too, but behaved when in a robe, so you had a satchel to carry it around. From what Yami said during some meetings, you were learning on your own. From scratch. He could've molded your magic to how he wanted.
"Why aren't you guiding her?"
"Because I know her, and she's doing fine on her own. She's already a mini-Jack."
Yeah, they never told you that was why Jack came to the base to rip you a new one for copying him. (But he did laugh because you modeled a spell or more after him.)
You pocketed the money, missing how the eyes of the Captains started glinting.
"[Name]-kun!" Rill stood up, bringing out his own money. He slapped it into your hands.
"Ah."
"I'll pay for whatever you want! Will you join my squad?"
"I'm already in the Black Bulls, so... why?"
