Heart (Part Two) (Steve x Reader)

I've been debating on making a part two for this one for awhile, but thanks to @BuckysGirl42 requesting it and giving me an idea, part two is finally here. I hope the rest of you actually liked this one too though😂

Warnings: fluff, angst, child medical issues (honestly, I don't know if all of these are facts or not, but for the sake of the story, pretend they are.), mad Tony for a moment, I think that's it. There's probably spelling errors because it's super late and I really don't want to check right now, or maybe ever lol so sorry about that.

Life is one of the most unpredictable things there is, so when you and Steve came along some bumps in the road with your children, it was expected. Even with that being said, the two of you still always kept a close eye on your only daughter Lilly. After her open heart surgery, the two of you knew there needed to be some strict rules in place for her to stay out of that operating room, rules that were hard for a young four year old to follow.

Yes, the twins where four now, and their older brother James was seven, still such a young age, but a fun one nonetheless. Now that your children were older, you and Steve realized the world still needed saving and the two of you could only take so much time off. You started off with small missions, ones that would leave half the team at the compound to baby sit while the two of you were away. But when the missions became harder, and more of the team needed to be there was when things got tricky and stressful. With missions like this, you and Steve would have to decide who could stay behind without hurting the team, it was a difficult decision, but it needed to be made.

You weren't surprised when today's mission was another big one, leaving you and Steve to wake up early to decide who you could handle the job without this time.

"What about peter?"

"I'm not leaving a fifteen year old in charge of my three children, he's on the mission, he's still training anyway so this will help him." You said as you and Steve began picking through your options.

"Alright, what about Vision?" He asked.

"Anthony is scared of him, plus we really need him on this one. He's practically indestructible." You pointed out. "What about Tony, Nat, and Banner? I doubt we will need a code green if we have Viz and Wanda with us."

"That could work, anyone else?" Steve asked as he looked through the list of his teammates, waiting for your answer.

"I think just three should be enough this time, don't you? There's isn't a lot of room for error in this mission." You told him as you leaned back in your shared bed, wishing you didn't have to leave your babies again. "How long is this one supposed to take?"

"Only three days." He answered before sending out the list to everyone so they knew when to be ready by. As soon as he was done, he turned back to you, sighing when he saw you staring up at the ceiling and already knowing what was going through your mind. "Sweetheart, they'll be fine. This isn't the first time we've had to leave. We've been doing this for a year now, they understand." He told you softly as he pulled you into his chest.

"I just worry. They're so young, Lilly still doesn't understand why we have so many rules for her."

"She's only four, there's a lot she doesn't understand. Besides, James always watches over her, especially while we're gone. Our boy has really grown up, and he's only seven." Steve laughed as he looked down at you.

"He must take after you." You whispered before looking up to give him a small and sweet kiss, pulling away when you heard a soft knock at your bedroom door.

"Mom... dad... can I come in?" You heard James ask from behind the door.

"Come in sweetie." You called out, smiling when you saw your son run into the room and jump on the bed to hug the two of you.
