We had to write an ode for my AP English class that related to our Thanksgiving. I hope you will enjoy hearing about mine ;)

Ode to a Pizza Dinner

At last the day had come
One I do fear for days on end
A day of cheer for some
A day with family I spend

But fear not, for a light
Would soon grace me on this one day
For with my meal tonight
Not a turkey was on my tray

I visit my mom's side
Where I remain hush as a mouse
But soon goodbye I'd bide
To set off for another house

Off to Dad's family
A house of expense and such grace
I knew no agony
As my meal would be out of place

You go in the oven
And I will watch with hungry eyes
To ensure she doesn't
Accidentally burn such a prize

Turkey soon covers plates
But not for my brother and I
We dare not risk the fates
For blessing us with pizza pie

Your darkened, hardened crust
Shall not deter me from my task
For your cheese is a must
And for a second slice I ask

At last the day had come
One I had feared for days on end
A day of cheer for some
A day I gladly now attend

I fear not, for a light
Had now graced me on this great day
For with my meal that night
I did find pizza on my tray
