Ricky’s POV
So Connor and I are heading to the grocery store. Connor is such a good friend to let me stay here. His deal seems reasonable. All I have to do is help fix the house up and help pay the mortgage. Wait! How am I supposed to help with the mortgage when I’m flat broke? “Connor?” I say to get his attention.
“What,” Connor asked.
“I’m glad that you’re letting stay in your house, but how am I supposed to help pay the mortgage when I’m broke,” I ask him.
“Well my parents gave me enough money to survive for two months, but to be used only for supplies,” Connor replies. “The money for the mortgage, I have to earn on my own. So it looks like we’re going to have to get jobs to pay for it.”
We arrived at the grocery store, the sign above it said, LA Tropicana Market. We entered the store and stopped for a second to feel the cool breeze of the air conditioning. We look around and collect some groceries from chips to soda to bread to several other things. We head to the cash register and then pay for our supplies.
CRASH!
“What’d you do,” some man in the back of the store screams.
“I wonder what happened,” Connor asked me.
“I have no idea,” I respond. “Let’s go see what happened.”
Connor and I rush over to the direction of the crash. When we get to the location of the crash, we see several shards of glass from broken jars scattered across the floor along with what the jars contained. Looking at the shelves holding the jars, we saw that the shelves had fallen apart. In the mess were two young employees, one male and the other female, and what looked to be their boss. “How’d you do this? This is going to cost so much money,” the boss screams.
“We’re sorry,” one employee answers.
“It was an accident,” the other retorts.
“This is you two’s third “accident”,” the boss says with an irritated tone. “You know my rules. Three strikes and you’re….”
“Out,” the two employees say simultaneously.
“Right, now clean this up,” the boss orders. “And when you’re done come by my office and turn in your vests.”
“Yes sir,” they respond. The two, now fired employees head to a door and pull out a two brooms.
“Hey Connor, why don’t we help them,” I suggest.
“Okay,” Connor responds. “Hey, do you two need some help?”
