The Dragon Queen

Chapter 5

Kathrines pov:
"Are you sure. This will not be an easy life. There will be many challenges. You might even get hurt. You will have to help dragons big and small. Are you willing to take us in and look past are claws and sharp teeth?"

"Are you willing to give up your human connections for dragons?" The dragon asks me.

"Yes." I say confidently. "Then touch the door with a crown on it and your connection with dragons will be magnified, and you will take on the role of the Dragon Queen." The Dragon says.

I nod and walk towards the entrance. I slowly put my hand out. I take a deep breath and touch the stone. A rumble is heard throughout the cave and the wall shakes. It slowly open to reveal two wooden doors.

I feel something inside me shift. I look over to the fire dragon in awe. I feel like I have a connection with her. It's like I can feel her emotions.

I try and make a wall in my mind like the book said. I think I get it because I can still feel the emotions from the dragon but they aren't as strong.

I face the doors and grab the handles. I open  them curiously. I gasp in awe at the inside. It's a huge room with a giant bed, a door leading to a bathroom, and a huge closet.

"Wow this is amazing!" I say looking around in wonder. The ceiling is huge and I start to assume that every room can accommodate dragons.

"Where does that lead?" I ask pointing to the closed door. "That leads to your personal Dragon stable. In there you will keep your most elite and trusted dragons. You can have as many as twenty and as few as one." The Dragon says.

I nod my head in understanding. "I'm sorry, I don't know your name." I say looking up at the mighty beast.

"It's not your fault, my name is Ruby. Any I'm very happy that you chose to be our queen. And I just wanted to say thank you. If it weren't for you I would have been starved and killed." Ruby says.

"Your welcome I'm very glad I saved you." I say petting her side. "Hey since your a fire dragon can you open the fire chamber?" I ask.

Ruby nods and we walk out of the room. I follow behind and watch as she goes to the door. She puts her snout on it and it shakes opening.

I peak around her scales to see a volcano like structure. "Wow!" I say. I walk in, I look around and see a satchel. I smile and pick it up.

I can't wait to look inside. What i see shocks me. There is a volcano like structure that had another door leading into to it. And all around us was charged dirt with a few trees. There was a small pond of water but it wasn't big enough for a dragon to get in.

"Why is there another door? Can you open it?" I ask pointing to the new door.

Ruby looks at it and says "I'm sorry I'm just a normal fire dragon. That last door was the only one I will be able to open. This door is probably for the lava dragons. They love extreme heat and well lots of fire." Ruby says.

"There are other doors around here for different dragons. Once you connect with a dragon and it agrees to come back here, it will open the door." Ruby says.

I look around and realize I'm not on fire. "Wait why am I not on fire. This place is crazy hot. Shouldn't I be dead?" I ask.

Ruby shakes her head and says "Since your the Dragon Queen you will be dealing with lots of fire. When you opened your chamber doors your body actually became heat resident. Watch." Ruby says.

Before I can react she opens her huge jaws and lets out a spew of fire. I let out a shriek of fear. I closed my eyes. When I didn't feel myself burning I open my eyes to see the fire was all around me.

I reach out and the fire just moves away from my body. "Wow!" I say. Ruby stops breathing fire and stares down at me.

"This is amazing thank you for showing me all this. I'm really tired I think I'm going to read some of this book and go to bed. I'll see you in the morning." I say.

Ruby nods and bends down. I run my hand down her snout before I walk out of the fire section and into my room. When I get to my room I set the satchel on the bed.

I go to the closet and look inside. I'm amazed by everything. There is everything from formal dresses to what looks like armor. I grab a simple nightdress and leave the closet.

I change I to the nightdress and jump on to the bed. I'm shocked at how nice it is. This is better than my old mistress' bed.

Wow I'm finally free. And not just that, I'm going to be the queen of dragons. Wow. Just wow.

I grab the satchel and I get the book out. I open the first page and start to read.

Congratulations you have found a fire dragon.

These creatures are a little wild. They are fierce protectors and aren't scared of a fight. Fire dragons are one of the hardest dragons to tame because they do not trust people easily.

Fire dragons love the heat and hate water. Water and fire dragons don't hate each other but they don't like each other. They can be near each other but don't leave them alone together.

Fire dragon eggs love heat and need to be kept warm at all times. Fire dragons and rock dragons usually are the closest friends because the rock dragons don't mind the heat.

Like all dragons fire dragons love meat and will hunt on there own.

Fire dragons are one of the largest dragons after earth and electric. Flying on fire dragons is an amazing feeling.

They are very fast dragons. Because of there huge size they can't turn as fast but they make up for it in there strength.

Fire dragons have the hottest fire in the dragon community and they can blow fire for a long time. These mighty beasts are truly amazing and a force to be reckoned with.

I close the book and set it on the desk next to me. Wow I'm surprised Ruby trusted me so easily. She must have really know that I was the next Dragon Queen.

I blow out the candle next to me. As I drift off to sleep I can't help but smile at the thought of what's to come.
