When glass shatters it is beautiful. There are sharp fragments that refract in a thousand possible directions. Any spectator, however, is bound to become somehow harmed by one of those shards that they once found beautiful.
This was the kind of analogy that had once kept Shane away from all things kind. Yet, as he stared down at a sleeping angel, he realized that sometimes a shard of glass is already too broken. Too broken to shatter at all.
And that's what made her stunning.
