"-why did she leave New York?"
Monroe's voice asks seeming confused.
Shhh...I'm trying to sleep.
"She honestly thought it'd be better for you and everyone else."
Luke answers from behind me.
"Why?"
"Well, after you both got ambushed that night she decided it was too dangerous to have friends. At least friends that weren't associated with her father's gang."
"So the people we're saving are in your gang?"
"No. She thought that she had moved enough away that they would forget about her. I mean it's been two years of them running and hiding. She was hoping to have a somewhat normal life for James. She didn't want him running and fighting all his life."
"So she had tried to settle down in a small town to raise him?"
"Yeah, but that obviously didn't work."
"Because they got captured?"
"Yeah, the one thing she was scared of actually happened."
"If they're actually her friends then they aren't going to blame her for what happened."
Monroe states and I hear Luke sigh.
"They don't need to. She blames herself enough."
After a few moments of silence I hear Asher speak up.
"Who all are we saving?"
"Joanna, Nathan, Jaecee, Tyson, Saiylor and Justin."
"How'd they meet?"
"I've heard a few stories, but I think that's a conversation for another time."
"Probably. We're almost there, right?"
"Yeah, in about ten minutes."
I open my eyes and quickly sit up to look around.
"Whoa!"
Asher jumps startled looking over at me.
"I thought you were asleep."
"I was."
I glance around the car to see Luke and Monroe in the back seat while Asher is in the driver seat beside me.
"Ready?"
Luke asks meeting my gaze and I nod.
"Yeah."
Luke parks the car in front of a small tin building with rusted blue paint.
"...this is the base?"
"This is just the entrance. Or one of them anyway."
I answer noticing Asher and Monroe's slightly confused looks.
"Come on."
Luke says hopping out and we quickly follow his lead.
I walk up to the door before knocking twice.
"Who is it?"
A voice asks slightly muffled by the door.
"I'm here to see Mr. Silver."
"Who's asking?"
Another voice asks cracking the door open slightly.
"Silver Eyes and the Red Lion, now let us in. We don't have time for this."
I answer irritated causing their eyes to widen.
"You're back!"
They quickly open the door revealing a normal looking shed. It had a few tools hung on the wall, a few tables and what not lying around layered in some dust.
"Impressive."
Asher says sarcastically.
"Who are these two?"
A member asks gesturing to Asher and Monroe.
The two boys are dressed in jeans and black tshirts. One has a rifle while the other holds a pistol.
"The names do not matter. What matters is that I need to speak with my father. Where is he?"
I ask causing them to nod.
"Right this way."
I follow them towards the back wall where a shelf full of tools and carpeting books lay stacked.
One of the members slide the shelf to the side revealing a metal door, hand scanner and a keypad.
I walk up before quickly typing in the twelve digit password. I then let the screen scan my hand before flashing green.
The door swings open to reveal a staircase that leads down.
"I'll stay here while you show her to Mr. Silver."
One of the members says causing the other to nod in agreement before leading us down.
We come up to another door which Luke opens by typing in a new password and signing his name.
"Lot of security, huh?"
Asher mumbles and I nod.
"Well, we're going to the heart of this place. We don't want just anyone walking in."
I answer letting the door swing open to reveal a large room filled with hundreds of people.
The stone walls are painted white to help brighten up the place. The room is about the size of a football field with each section separated by bulletproof glass.
The training area, the cafeteria, the tv room and the computer technology space. The bedrooms and bathrooms are near the back.
"Whoa."
"Luke, can you take them to the training area while I go talk to dad?"
"Sure."
He nods.
"Oh! But don't let anyone know their names. Come up with fake ones!"
I warn before turning and running to my dad's office.
I stop at the wooden door hearing the murmuring of voices on the other side. I knock waiting patiently for his answer.
"Come in?"
I open the door revealing my dad sitting in a chair behind a large wooden desk with a phone in his hand.
His brown hair is combed back away from his dark gray eyes. His eyes meet mine before widening in surprise.
"Raya!"
He quickly gets to his feet before tackling me in a hug.
"I've missed you."
He murmur as I hug back.
"I've missed you too."
He pulls away after a few minutes and looks down at me in concern.
"Where's James?"
"He's at a friends right now."
"What's wrong?"
"Blood Arrow."
His eyes narrow in anger.
"What'd he do?"
"Dad, he kidnapped my friends."
Tears roll from my eyes and I quickly wipe them away feeling embarrassed.
"Shh, it'll be okay. We'll get them back."
I nod trying to calm my unsteady breathing.
"Can you have some people locate his base and try to find out where he'd keep hostages?"
I ask and he nods.
"I also have Luke training Monroe and her boyfriend."
"Monroe? As in James Monroe?"
I nod causing him to smile.
"Good, I'm glad you three are back together."
I smile agreeing with him.
"I'm going to have Blake get some supplies ready."
"Okay."
He turns to walk off.
"Oh, and dad?"
I ask causing him to turn around.
"Yes, Raya?"
"Once this is all over...I think James and I are gonna come back. At least for a while anyway."
Dad nods a smile on his face.
"It'll be good to have you both back."
I watch him walk away towards the computer technology space and sigh.
Yeah.
I just hope it's the right choice.
I turn and head for the training area.
We've got a long day to go.
