The Wedding – Pt. 2

Cassandra

"What are you talking about?"Came an enraged voice from the middle of the room.

I turned around to see Salvatore glaring menacingly at Marcie. Marcie shrunk back

in fear but continued speaking otherwise.

"Oh Salvatore! How can you forget that night?" Marcie fake-wailed. Frankly

speaking, my ears were starting to hurt. Yeah, I know. I was being super-casual with

all of this while I’m pretty sure Salvatore was having a panic attack just by thinking

what I would make out of it but I was just waiting for the right moment to intervene.

"What is all this!" Dad shouted as he recovered from the shock. I simply stood

there, watching the drama unfold. "Is this true?" He demanded as he turned towards

Salvatore.

"No!" "Yes!" Salvatore and Marcie shouted at the same time. Dad, obviously siding

with his little girl, stared at Salvatore with a cold glare.

"You are going to fix it!" He all but commanded. I watched as Salvatore clamed

himself down and tried to reason with dad. Jeremy took it as his que and stomped

out. No one spared him a glance.

"Look....." But dad was having none of it.

"No, you look! My baby girl is suffering because of you and I want you to fix it by

doing the right thing." His face was red with anger as he marched up to Salvatore.

"And that is....?" Salvatore calmly prompted.

"You marry her." I took this as my que.

"And why would he do that?” I calmly asked. All eyes turned to me. I met

Salvatore's gaze, my heart clenching at the relief that I saw in there.

“Cassy, don’t interfere. This is not your fight.” Dad said coldly.

“Oh, but this is.” I said, matching his tone. I stepped forward and walked towards

where Salvatore stood. I stopped besides him and took his hand in mine. Dad saw

red at my actions.

“Cassandra Hanson, you will step aside this very second!” he shouted, full of rage.

I rolled my eyes at me. Guess pregnancy agrees with me, I mused.

“No father, we are in this together.” I said with conviction. He opened his mouth

to retaliate but Martina beat him to it.

“How could you do this to your sister!” she bellowed.

“Step-sister Martina, like you’ve always reminded me if, so quit using the guilt

card.” I said anger evident in my voice. Martina turned even redder, if that were

possible. I continued “And why are you all so hell-bent on going after Salvatore

when he did nothing wrong!” I tried to reason. Marcie, who was quite until this

moment, decided to make her presence known.
