|CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN|

"Are you really sure you are okay with taking care of her?" Sean asked, taking his coat from the closet.

"Yes. I am sure. I do want to have some girl time with her anyways," said Maria, sitting on the edge of the bed beside me.

"Alright." Sean sighed and walked towards the door. "I will be back in an hour or two." He strode off, closing the door behind him.

Maria turned her head towards me. "Emily. Is it alright if we converse on a touchy subject?" She asked and I mumbled a yes.

"Not to be against you or something, but I got to say what I had seen the past years. Alright?" Her voice quavered.

"Just get on with it, Maria." I groaned and opened my eyes to look at her.

She huffed and said, "You honestly don't need to act such hatred towards Stacey and Brandon's relationship. I mean, I do thank Stacey for being there when Brandon was broken. He wouldn't talk to anyone for almost a year. He wasn't in the best condition, you can say. Stacey was there, comforting him all the way. Soon, Brandon was back to his normal self."

I threw the pillow on my face and groaned. I don't want to talk about Brandon and Stacey.

"I saw the love those two have for each other. I see the twinkle and the real smiles on both of their faces. They are happy Emily. You should too. Brandon isn't the only guy in the world. You have Sean also, who is there for you anytime. Even though he abuses you, I know that he loves you a lot. That is why he is possessive; he doesn't want to lose you."

Tears started streaming and moistening my pillow. Maria placed a hand on my back and comforted me.

"You may hate me for this, but I just want to keep you from hurting some more. I want you to be happy again, even if it means without being with Brandon. Sure, he was your first love, but first love isn't always your last love. Just, please be happy. Don't cry anymore. Just look around you and appreciate the people who loves you."

I got up and pulled Maria into a hug. "Thank you, Maria. You may be right, but you somehow forget I am stubborn. Yet, I will try to be happy for you."

She hugged me back and said, "Well, let's stop this emotional fest and get your stanky self out of this bed. Take a shower and let's go out!"

"I am not that stanky, you know," I protested.

"Well, my dead scent cells says otherwise. Now get in the shower," she demanded, pushing me into the bathroom. "Make sure the soap doesn't wither also!"

I stumbled out of bed and snorted at Maria's remark. After showering and changing to decent clothes, Maria and I were off.

"Maria. Is it alright if we go visit my friend Nikki first? Maybe we can invite her and her son with us to the mall?" I asked from the passenger seat.

"Oh yeah! Sure! The more, the merrier!" Maria chirped. "Now, if you can only direct me to her house."

As I directed Maria toward Nikki's house, our conversation was centered on my nephew.

"Gosh! I couldn't wait to meet that little kiddo."

"I will warn you though. Sammy can be a handful most of the time," I laughed.

"Isn't that just being a little toddler?" I nodded in reply. "Wait. You never mentioned anything about Sammy's father. Did like something happen..?"

"Nikki hadn't really said anything about Sammy's father. All I know is that she was impregnated in an early age, and the guy left her. The guy was to be never found."
