Chapter 17

"We're here Mikey" John wakes me up. I look around confused.

    "Wait, why is it so quiet outside? Where are the fans?" I ask.

    "Michael, the concert started an hour ago." he says,

    "Shit" my eyes widen.

    "No time for worrying! Get your guitar, i'll get the doors open." I nod and grab my guitar from the back of the car, leaving my luggage in there for later. I sprint to the open door where John is.

    "Michael, sound guys, sound guys, Michael. He needs in ears and a sound box, and someone hook his guitar up to the sound boards?" John fires things at the men and they do as told as fast as they can.

    "You're going to do great Mikey, don't worry. Ok are your ready?"

    "What song are they on?" I ask nodding nodding and following him side stage.

    "Castaway" I grin to myself at that.

    "I'm going to wait till the battle is supposed to be played." he nods.

    "Ok, you're hooked up to sound so you can even play from here and the whole stadium can hear. Also when you put those in, you can hear the other boys voices and instruments as well as your own" he explains pointing to the inears.

    "Good Luck and go get your boy" he pats my shoulder, grinning. I take deep breaths trying to calm my racing heart.

    "Oh and we have Josh's backing track playing, so as soon as the guitar battle is being played they will know something is up, because we agreed to not play it." I nod, waiting for my cue, the quiet after the explosive "ohhs" they have the crowd sing.

    It's Luke's part, the intro to the battle, when the sound guys turn off Josh's track and hook me up. I take a deep breath, I can see them all from where i'm standing.

    As soon as he finishes his part, where they agreed to stop the original battle and finish the song, is where i jump in, doing the exact thing i did that day in the studio. Putting my own spin on it.

    I don't have to look at the guitar to know what i'm playing, so i watch for their reactions. I grin, because they are so confused. They can't see me and they know it's not Josh's track playing. They almost stop playing till they snap out of it. I laugh at Luke's dumbfounded face when he has to do his second solo.

    It's then that I walk out, only Ash can see me and he grins. I hold my finger to my mouth to tell him to be quiet. As soon as Luke's solo is over and I start my version of the next part, and Luke must know it's me because his head whips around, not able to spot me.

    I laugh, walking completely on stage, the fans are going nuts and now Calum sees me. He's grinning, then pointing at me. As soon as Luke sees me I stick my tongue out at him and then proceed to play the rest of the solo behind my head.

    He stares at me, completely forgetting he's in the middle of a song. I run over to him and yell "Play!" He does and we continue to the end of the song.

    Grinning, I place my guitar down on the stage, readying myself for being tackled into hugs by Cal and Ash. Which happened two seconds later.

    "Mikey!" They shout.

    "What the fuck!?" Calum yells. I just continue to grin. When they let go, i face luke who is standing at his mic, and has an unreadable expression on his face. I stick my tongue out again and teasingly bow to him. He cracks a smile.

    "What the hell are you doing here?!" he shouts into his mic so he can be heard over the crowd.

    "I forgot to tell you something!" i yell. He just raises an amused eyebrow.

    "What?" I laugh and grab the back of his neck, pulling him into a kiss. The whole arena cheers and whistles. I can hear Ashton and Calum Cheering which causes Luke to laugh and for me to pull away.

    "I love you too!" I shout, earning the biggest smile from him i've ever seen. He jumps back into my arms, kissing me again.

    "Hey uh guys, as much as we love that you're happy and all, we still have half a concert to play!" ashton laughs.

    "Also by the way, that was fucking amazing! How the hell did you play that behind your head?" Calum asks making Luke and I laugh.

    "I can hear jesse in my ears, who gave him a Microphone?" I ask

    "We can discuss how epic that was later, who wants to hear another song?!" Ash shouts getting the crowd amped again.
