Elspeth wasn't sure what she was feeling after the fiasco that took place outside on the castle grounds. It was a mixture of sadness and anger, but more importantly, she was honestly hurt by what she had witnessed. Hurt that the boys had made her eat her own words when she spent so much time and energy defending their names, only to just have it be thrown in her face in the vilest manner. She had helped James numerous times to help try to impress Lily or at least, come across as a better person in her eyes, but he had completely destroyed all of that work. Not to mention for Sirius to encourage the behaviour, it was absolutely disgusting in her eyes.

There, Lily was pleading for them to stop, she was visibly upset and all they did was continue to torment Severus in front of her. They were feeding off the reactions and it was making Elspeth sick to her stomach. She didn't like Severus either, but it was just a messy situation that they weren't working towards making better, but worse. Then to have Peter laughing, it filled her with rage, the boy of all people knew what it was liked to picked on and bullied. Often so many students would point out his weight and other imperfections that his friends didn't carry and yet he could stand there and laugh in the face of another.

Remus had finally set off the final straw in her mind because he honestly had the ability to set the boys right. He knew that James and Sirius would listen to him, especially when it came to his role as prefect, Remus was the one who called it when matters went too far. But for him to sit there and pretend that nothing was happening around him, she couldn't believe it. She didn't want to be friends with those kinds of people. There were many aspects that she liked about all of them, but she was going to stand by that behaviour.

She didn't feel the least bit sorry for smacking all of them in the face, as a hopeful awakening that what they had done was absolutely wrong. Not only had they made themselves out to be fools, but they had made her look like a fool and a liar. She hated that especially since she was trying to do the right things and mend things with Lily so they could at least be civil with one another. However, at the rate she was going, Elspeth found herself completely alone because she didn't want anyone around her anymore. All they had done was left her feeling disappointed after she had placed trust in them.

From Penelope to Sirius, it hurt terribly because she thought Penelope would be the last friend she would lose really. But to lose Sirius in that way, her first true boyfriend, and the one that she wanted to say "I love you" back to when she worked up the courage. Now, what was she supposed to do?

She just had to get through her remaining exams and then she would be free from Hogwarts for the summer.

In the meantime, whenever she wasn't taking her exams, Elspeth made sure that she wasn't around. She didn't even want to hear an apology from the boys, she didn't even want to see them. In her mind, Elspeth still had the plan that if they dared to approach her that she would hex the living hell out of them. She didn't want to see Lily either, as she didn't sleep in the dorms either. All Elspeth had initially wanted was for Lily to see the error of her ways and realise that Severus wasn't the best person to have in her life, but she didn't want Lily to find out in that way.
