Chapter 11 - Reimako's Cooking

One day as i arrive back from college.

(Hmn...somethings smell good...)

When i peak into the kitchen Rei is making dinner.

"Oh! Welcome back, Mina."

"Hi, You're already making dinner?"

"That's right. The preparations should take quite a while today..."

"Oh yeah...Thank you for making breakfast the other day."

"Oh, no. I'm glad you liked it."

"I'm gonna make a meal that's just as delicious as that breakfast was."

"Ehehehehe."

(I bet she's gonna a make a masterfeast , get it masterfeast? get it? you know what? forget it.)

As i smile wryly, as she goes back to cooking,

I watch her humming merrily enjoying her cooking.

(Now that i think about it...)

( I don't think i've ever watched her cooking.)

Last time Yomiko chased me out after Rei knocked over that pot.

I sat at the tool near the kitchen counter and.

"Hey, Reimako..."

"Yes?"

"Uhm if you don't mind..."

"Would it be okay to watch you cook?"

"Wuh?, W-Watch me cook?" she hesitates as she looks at me suspiciously,

"I-It won't be very interesting though..."

"I just want to learn some technique, and recipe's from you so if you don't mind."

"U-Umm..."

"Is that a no?"

"I-I really don't think it'll  be interesting..."

"No. it's fine, i just love to see you cooking."i blurt out casually

(H-He love?!) " A-all right... I don't know if it'll be any use to you,  though..."

"Thanks!" he smiled sweetly.

Then...

Reimako begins making dinner, her hands deftly moving from one task to the next she swiftly moves from stove to stove, she's cooking like a storm. 

(W-wow...)

(I didn't realize the Reimako is this good at cooking.)

"And finally...there we go!" she said while covering the pot with its lid.

"Ok! All done!"

"Huh? You're finished?!" 

Before i know it, dinner is ready. I take a peek at what's she's cooking

The bowl is filled high with stir-fried vegetables. 

(Wow...it smells and looks amazing...)

(Th-this is nothing like my cooking at all, this looks like those stir-fried veggies they serve in some fancy restaurant.)

"Have a taste, Mina."

"M-May I?"

"Yes! please do! I tried out a different flavor today."

"I-i see... Don't mind if i do then..."

She hands him a serving spoon and scoops a mouthful of stir-fried veggies.

As he puts a mouthful in his mouth, he can feel the sudden burst of flavor dancing to his tongue.

"Th-This is delicious!"

"R-Really? Thank goodness..." she sighs of relief she blushes lightly

(She was fast making this, makes me think that when Miyoko, Yomiko and i we're helping her, she was slowing down to our phase, were no help at all, ehehehe)

(Her cooking really is in a different league than mine, in here i thought i could cook...)

He feels a little depressed as he thinks of this, as Rei look at him with a puzzled look on her face.

"Is something wrong,Mina?"

"N-no, i was just thinking that i still have a lot improvement to make with my cooking to reach the same level as yours."

All he can do is smile wryly.

As he do though.

"Th-That's not true!" she unusually rises her voice, blushing with embarrassment she stared at him.

"Your breakfast was really delicious, Mina."

"R-Really?" (she's really considerate.)

"Yes! and i'm not saying it just to be considerate."

(Is she reading my mind?)

"No! if you're thinking that i'm reading your mind, i'm not."

(She is!!!)

"Anyway, i was happy that you went the trouble of making it for me."

"We have different styles in cooking and the taste varies on different preferences of different person it's good if you admit that you need to improve but it's not right to compare your cooking to mine,"

(Wow, i haven't thought about that, she's really mature in her way of thinking.)

"T-Thank, Reimako."

"It's been a long time since i cook for someone, i guess i need to practice cooking more."

She begins timidly blushing.

"Uhm..Well.."

"Hm?"

"If you like...we could make breakfast, sometime."

He was awestruck.

"I could teach you few things i know if you think i'm good enough."

"I would like that, thanks, Reimako."

He happily take on her offer.

"Looking forward to it." she smiles.

And that smile is enough to sway her heart back to the light, her heart flutter and making his body warm.

(Maybe she really has started to open up to me a little.)
