A few weeks went by, and Ander's condition remained the same. To Shore's knowledge, she hadn't spoken again. Around him, everyone else seemed to have gone on with their lives. Apple spent hours reading letters from Ember and writing back to him. Joy had gotten much more involved in the jobs of royalty, trying to distract herself, Shore presumed. Rin had decided to attempt the impossible task of teaching Parrot how to fight, and Stardust.... Well, Stardust was doing whatever it was that Stardust did in his spare time. Shore found it strange how everyone had panicked about Ander at first, but now they didn't seem to care as much. Orange explained that they had just accepted that there was nothing else they could do for her. It was up to Ander now. Shore couldn't help but wonder exactly what it was that Ander was up too...

*~*~*~*~*

Ander threw open a door and stumbled through it, slamming it behind her in a quick panic. She breathed a sigh of relief as she looked around. It had taken a lot of strength to speak, but it had been worth it. Shore's knife was the most useful thing she had in this dream war. The prison she'd been trapped in had been torn to shreds, leaving Ander to fend for herself. The knife allowed her to fight off the bad stars until a door appeared. The door were random, but they could be helpful. Ander thought they were leading her through different dimensions.

She glanced around at her current location. Strangely enough, it looked a lot like the rainforest. Ander tucked away the knife and walked forward cautiously. No matter how harmless one of these places looked, there was always danger lurking. Grass was soft under her talons as she stepped into a clearing.  A lone dragon stood on the other side, seemingly waiting for her.

"Quis es? " she questioned. No one spoke her native language here. This was the stars territory. You spoke their dialect. The dragon tilted his head slightly, his blue eyes glittering. The eyes caught her off guard as she took in the figure. His face seemed plain enough, and his tribe was unidentifiable. But those eyes.... They shone just like the sky. Ander stopped, momentarily lost in them.

She shook herself. No. She didn't know who this dragon was. He could be haunted for all she knew.

"Non me inimicus." He insisted in a soothing, soprano voice. Not an enemy? Ander thought to herself. Likely story. She decided to test out the chant Whiteout had taunt her. It warded away much more than tainted souls.

" Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica. Ergo, omnis legio diabolica, adiuramus te...cessa decipere humanas creaturas, eisque æternæ perditionìs venenum propinare...Vade, satana, inventor et magister omnis fallaciæ, hostis humanæ salutis...Humiliare sub potenti manu Dei; contremisce et effuge, invocato a nobis sancto et terribili nomine...quem inferi tremunt...Ab insidiis diaboli, libera nos, Domine. Ut Ecclesiam tuam secura tibi facias libertate servire, te rogamus, audi nos. *" She recited. The dragon didn't move. Her eyes narrowed as she tried another.

"Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica, ergo draco maledicte, ut ecclesiam tuam secura, tibi facias libertate servire, te rogamus, audi nos! **" No response.

"I am no monster." He flittered. Ander stiffened at the sound of her normal language.

"It is not safe to speak those words here." she hissed back.

"Est si cantabo tibi illud***." He replied, offering her his hand. Warily, Ander took his talon and they began to dance. Strange as it may sound, dancing with the blue-eyed stranger seemed like the most normal thing Ander had done in a long time.

"Who are you?" Ander repeated.

"You already know the answer to that." he insisted, spinning her around.

"I know you," she sang faintly, remembering an old song her mother had taught her. "I walked with you once upon a dream."

"I know you, " He sang back. "The gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam. Yet I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem, But if I know you, I know what you'll do...."

The rainforest slowly faded away with the dragons voice, until he too disappeared. Ander sighed as darkness surrounded her, with the lone exception of a door. She stepped through it, only to see an angry figure lunging towards her. Ander threw the knife towards it and-

*~*~*~*~*

Shore sighed as he turned away from Ander's unmoving figure.

"MORIETUR!!!" A voice yelled out as Ander lunged up and threw a knife. Shore yelped and ducked down, the knife barely missing his head.

"Ander!" he yelled, glancing between the knife and her. "What the hell??!"
