I can't believe I'm doing this, I'm really doing this

I can't believe I'm doing this, I'm really doing this. My anxiety levels are sky rocketing as I wait at the Miami International Airport long security line. My sister Celine has been begging me to come live with her, and I finally told myself "fuck it, just do it".

Having anxiety I tend to over think certain situations, there's a million things that could go wrong. Thing number one being, my parents finding out I'm doing this.

They don't know I'm permanently moving to New York and not coming back to Miami. I mean my parents are black, I can just imagine them hopping on a flight and literally dragging me back to Miami.

Another thing that could go wrong is- well that's all I got. I mean angry black parents should be enough to make you think twice about doing something. I guess I've gotten a bit bold haven't I.

I'm doing this for a reason, I can't turn back now. See the problem is my parents are strict as fuck, there's no other way to put it.

They were really controlling to the point where I wasn't allowed to go out with my friends, I had to dress a certain way, I mean the list goes on.

I couldn't even date in highschool, "focus on your studies, boys will only distract you" my father would say.

I, Nadia Washington, am now 23 still a virgin, single, and never had my first kiss (well I have but that ass forced his lips on mine, so he don't count) . To top it off I have absolutely no clue how to talk to guys, it's a problem.

I decided if I don't get out of my parents house, I'll never grow as a person, learn about the world, make mistakes, and I just couldn't do that to myself.

So here I am at this airport, the line getting significantly shorter. I check the time on my phone.

"Shit" I say under my breath, I had 20 minutes to get to the terminal waiting area. I'm guessing the white lady in front of me heard me because she turned around and gave me a raised eyebrow.

what I really wanted to say in that moment was "What bitch?! Something wrong with your eyes?!"

Instead I settled for a muttered "sorry" as she turns back around.

I was next in line fucking finally. After going through security and hurriedly attempting to put my shoes back on, I booked it to the terminal area. "I can't miss this flight, I can't miss this flight" I repeated in my head.

When I finally reached the terminal all out of breath, people had already started boarding the flight. I handed the ticket lady my boarding pass and my passport, which she checked and scanned.

"Have a nice flight" she said as she gave one of her complementary smiles. I give her a quick "thanks" and gave her a forced smile.

While on the jet bridge , I quickly take a look at my boarding pass. "Ok seat F20 it is" I say to myself.

I finally set foot on the plane, on the hunt for my seat. I finally find my seat but there's a problem, someone is already sitting in it. Is this really happening right now?

I politely tap on the persons shoulder and coincidently, it was the same white lady who gave me that weird look in line earlier.

"Um... excuse me but I think your in the wrong seat" I towered over her as she is sitting down.

She proceeds to give me that condescending smile and tells me "sorry, sweet heart this is my seat" as should looks back forward disregarding me.

Did this bitch really just-? " Hey ma'am, the seat your in is F20 and that's my seat as it says so my boarding pass" I said while stuffing the pass in her face.

Pet peeve, hate being told I'm wrong when I know I'm right.

She looked shocked "that has to be a mistake" she exclaimed. She begins to look through her bag for what I'm guessing is her pass.

I finally lose patience " look lady if you can just get up that would be-" I'm cut off by her putting her pass in my line of sight.

Low and behold "F20" is also written on her pass, now ain't this some bullshit.

This lady was looking real smug right about now. She honestly looked like the 'I wanna speak to the manager' type not gonna lie.

Me having enough of the situation, I called over the flight attendant to get this resolved.

Long story short, one of us had to catch another flight because there was no more available seating and that smug bitch wasn't getting up.

So Here I am at the airport help desk waiting for this problem to be fixed. Meanwhile, I shot a quick text to Celine:

Funny she said that cause my luck was just about to change

Funny she said that cause my luck was just about to change.

One of front desk ladies who was handling the issue came up to me, " I'm so sorry about what has happened with your flight, it was an error on our part" I kinda just nodded my head wanting this shit to be over.

She continues "as an apology we are bumping you to first class, again we do apologize" she hands me my new boarding pass .

At this moment I honestly couldn't be more happier, had to keep my composure a little couldn't be looking crazy out here. "Thank you" I said , she gave me a knowing smile and said "no problem".

In a haste I grabbed my shit and walked to the next terminal. Could this get any better? I can't even contain my smile.
