Wattpad helped me a lot at the beginning of my writing career. Firstly, by giving me a place to post my stories and get feedback without the pressure of going to the retailers. Work doesn't have to be perfect on Wattpad, and that's part of its charm. Secondly, I met a whole bunch of amazing people, both readers, and fellow authors, and they've helped me with everything from beta reading to buying my books. I don't think I'd be where I am today, with writing as my main job, without the initial support of Wattpad readers and staff.

If you're just starting out on Wattpad, the most important thing to remember is that it's a community. Give and you shall receive. Talk to people, read their books, and be generous with your time as well as asking for feedback. And when you get that feedback, take a step back and evaluate it. Yes, criticism can hurt, but if it's valid, acting on it can make your story better.
