KENZIE'S POINT OF VIEW
•••

i woke up, with my whole body stiff. i'd had to sleep on a mattress. today was my last day here, before i had to move to the other side of the world.

i went downstairs and all i saw were boxes of my things all around, ready to leave along with us.

i don't know what i was more worried about. losing my friends, or not being able to make more, and i have a strong feeling it's there former option.

i didn't plan on going to school today, because i knew if i'd meet anyone, and say my goodbyes, there'd be a whole water show. even though i wanted to make the most of my last day, all i did was stay home and binge watch pretty little liars, on my phone, since, you know, my tv's gone.

( THE NEXT DAY )

when i woke up the next morning, the first thing i did was check my phone. i opened up instagram, and scrolled through my feed for a bit.

there was this one goodbye message for someone, but i didn't get the chance to read it because my mom called me downstairs

"john! breakfast," she yelled, as i made my way downstairs. there was a pile of french toast placed on the table. i dug has in, and only when i was halfway done did i realise that lauren was already finished.

"i'm leaving mom, bye!" she called out, before walking out of the room. i left my breakfast on the table, and followed her outside.

"where're you going?" i questioned. "maybe if you spoke to anyone other than avery, you'd actually realise what was going on in around you, but let me warn you, you're going to regret not knowing what this is," she snapped.

"woah, what are you talking about? what am i gonna regret?" i asked her, worried. her expression softened a little, and she said, "i'm not allowed to tell you, and even if i could, it's too late now."

without another word, she grabbed her bike, and pedalled off.

i groaned in frustration, but nonetheless went back to each my breakfast. i saw that i had received a new message on my phone, and upon opening it, i saw it was from the unknown number.

UNKNOWN NUMBER

JOHNNY

JOHNNY

*JOHNNY ORLANDO HAS BLOCKED UNKNOWN NUMBER*

i put my phone down with a sigh. this kid was really getting pissing off. but come to think of it, even i realised that i actually hadn't spoken to mackenzie in a while. i'd have to change that on monday.

"i'll miss you guys so much," i sobbed into annie and lauren's shoulder. "we'll miss you too," they replied in sync, their own eyes filled with tears as well.

"don't forget about us," annie managed a small smile as we pulled away. "never," i promised, wiping away my tears.

"are you sure you don't wanna say bye to john?" lauren asked me. i nodded. i had my mind set. it probably seemed like i was making a big deal out of nothing, but it honestly meant a lot to me.

the moment he'd see another girl who he finds attractive, he'll leave the one he head. i might have been a little insensitive about the fact that we were only fake dating, but knew one thing for sure. once a player, always a player.

"okay...bye." lauren gave me another hug, and as she pulled away, i heard her murmur, that's from johnny, but when i looked at her, she showed no signs at having said something.

just then, a voice over the PA spoke. "boarding flight number 237 to australia."

"that's for me.." i have them another sad smile, and a quick hug, and then followed my family through the gates, and didn't look back.
