It was springtime in Radiant Garden and the flowers were just starting to bloom. All except Vanitas seemed to appreciate Mother Nature’s doings. He and I were walking down the streets now. I noticed the tulips were already in bloom. I ran over and knelt in front of them. “Hey Van, don’t you think they’re pretty?” I asked.
He scoffed. “What’s so good about colourful weeds? They’ll be gone in a week anyways. Mother Nature didn’t think that through.” He said, rolling his eyes.
I glared at him. “Please! You just can’t see what’s so good about them.” I defended.
“Really?” he mused. “Enlighten me, Mother Nature know-it-all. What’s so good about them?”
“It’s the time you savor to appreciate them. Plus, tulips are the first to bloom, kind of like first love.” As she explained, she pointed to each of individual colour. “Red tulips mean ‘believe me’ and are a declaration of true love. Variegated tulips mean ‘you have beautiful eyes.’ Yellow tulips mean ‘there's sunshine in your smile’ and cheerful thoughts. Cream colored tulips mean ‘I will love you forever.’ White tulips symbolize heaven, newness and purity. Purple tulips symbolize royalty. Pink tulips mean affection and caring. Orange tulips mean energy, enthusiasm, desire, and passion.”
Vanitas sighed, rolling his eyes. It was a cover to hide his blush and the fact that he just paid attention to that. He grabbed and pulled out a red tulip. “Just take it so we can move on already. You can gawk at that thing for another week.” He lied, shoving it in her hands. That wasn’t the real reason he gave it to her.
