About three days have gone by. I've spent every waking moment making sure not to slip up in my charade of loving Taehyung back. If there's one thing I know about him, it's that he's clever; and when he finds out I've pretended or acted about something, I earn a firm slap across the face.
I've told myself that, the reason I'm doing this, isn't to force myself to love Taehyung back, but that this is the only way I can ensure Jace's safety; to distract Taehyung from hurting Jace any further.
Speaking of Jace, I haven't seen him at all since that night Taehyung almost beat him to death in front of me. He could be dead right now for all I know. Why is this happening? Out of all the people in this world, why was I the one Taehyung wanted? Then again, I would never wish this upon someone else, not even on my worst enemy.
"Are you ready, my love?" Taehyung asked from the other side of the bathroom door.
"Yes. I'll be out in a second."
Today, he wanted to go for a drive. For what reason? I have no idea. I had considered the worst as I usually do; Taehyung has been more violent than the last time he kidnapped me, which only made me even more terrified.
As we left the house, Taehyung locking the door with his finger print, we walked through the snow and to his car. It was an old station wagon, rusted in some areas with no front bumper as it had probably been ripped off during the cab crash. The inside smelt of cigarettes and a stinging odor, so I figured it was most likely not his car but one he stole.
"Once we start driving, the heater should warm up." He assured.
When the car began moving, I contemplated if I should ask where we were going or wait, just in case a brilliant idea arose for my escape. But knowing might also help..
"Where are we going?" I asked as innocently as possible.
"Some place special." He answered with no expression.
I sat back and proceeded to stay silent. I was scared, really. It was no secret that the mind Taehyung possessed was twisted, in fact, I'm sure the horrid things I could possibly think of wouldn't come close to the horrors he dreams about.
Where ever Taehyung was taking me was quite the distance from the house; about 4 hours. I slept through a lot of it. With Taehyung driving, I didn't feel as vulnerable to him; both hands on the wheel, remember?
"Mai, darling, we're here." Taehyung whispered to me, nudging my shoulder gently to wake me up.
When I opened my eyes, looking out the window, we we're parked in a large feild, tall grass poking out of the smooth white snow. As I continued to scan my surroundings, I saw what looked to have been some sort of stone ruin. Perhaps an old farming mill?
"Come on, love, let's take a closer look." He said, gripping under my arm as if he was expecting me to run.
What is he doing? Why did he bring me here?
As we approached the tall, thin structure, I noticed a door of bars imbedded into the stone.
"Go on, if you're curious." Taehyung said to me as if I were a child, gesturing that it was okay to go look through the bars.
Saying I was confused would've been an understatement. So, picking up my feet through the thick snow, I walked over to the bars. It looked like some sort of cell or jail, but as I leaned in closer, a large creature sprung from the darkness!
"Ah!" I yelped, falling back onto the snowy ground.
It was a dog, a big dog; his eyes blood shot and his jaw covered in a foamy white substance. It growled viciously, a cloud of hot breath forming after every loud bark and it's large body jumping against the bars that stood between him and I.
I heard Taehyung giggling from behind me.
"Mai, meet Rex." He smiled.
Taehyung walked over to me and pulled me to my feet. Why on Earth does he have this dog? Why is it here and in a cell of all places?
"Wh-what's wrong with it?" I stuttered.
"Unfortunately, Rex got infected with rabies. Aw baby, I know it's a difficult sight to look at." He said, pressing my head into his chest as he hugged me.
"Why did you bring me here?" I asked sternly.
"Well, why don't I show you." Taehyung gripped my arm again and continued to pull me inside the building.
It was dark and cold and there were bars just like the one with Rex covering the inside of the structure.
"This was used to hold prisoners a long, long time ago." Taehyung said, pulling me up the stone staircase that led up to the roof.
Once at the top, I saw a gun placed on the far edge of the roof. It looked like a hunting rifle. My mind began to rambled! What was he going to do with that?!
"Don't worry, my love, that's not for you." He assured, walking over to a ledge where two rope ends were placed. "You know, I knew a day like this was going to come eventually. I mean, I can't share you forever, Mai."
I stood stiff, my nerves taking over my body.
"Come here." He commanded.
At the ledge, Taehyung told me to look over the edge at what the ropes were connected to. They were tied to large metal knobs over two cell doors.
"I- I don't understand."
Taehyung lifted up the right of the two ropes and handed it to me.
"Pull it." He said.
Hesitantly, I gripped the rope with both hands and began to pull. The door was heavy, but once I pulled far enough, the bars made a loud cling noise as it locked.
"Now what?" I asked.
"Now..." Taehyung smiled, picked up the rifle in one hand and grasped the left rope in the other. "Jace! Can you hear me down there?"
"What-" I frantically looked over the ledge and saw Jace stumbling out from the cell!
His hands were tied behind his back and his clothes covered in blood. There were even dark splotches on his skin from the amount of frostbite he's endured in the snow.
"What are doing?! What's going on?!" I cried.
"What I should've done a long time ago, dear. Now Jace, I'm going to give you a running start! Ready?"
Jace looked up at me with fear and sorrow as tears poured from his eyes. He mouthed "I'm sorry" before he turned around and began running as fast as his legs could carry.
"10, 9, 8, 7, 6," Taehyung began pulling the rope for the other cell to open, "5, 4, 3, 2," then the awful sound of the locked door echoed through my ears, "now Rex, fetch!"
