he fell asleep on my couch,
my sisters questioned nothing
about the strange, unrecognizable boy
in our living room,
they don't really care.

he looks so beautiful,
the light bouncing off his skin,
like a mirror.

I think about the cute little things
about this unworldy boy in front of me.

like how he draws fingers down his nose
as he blushes.
how he looks down and then up
when he smiles widely at
a compliment.
how his voice has a strange edge
whenever he is excited enough,
and how he is "one of those people"
who punch when they're excited enough.
how giggles with a slight snort
and a high-pitched laugh that
is more beautiful than that of
which I call him--angel.
how he rolls his thumbs or
plays with the ring on his
middle finger when he's thinking
or is nervous
or is daydreaming again
like a dream boy.
sometimes I wonder if
one day it'll be the ring
I give him that he'll twirl
and he'll think of me and
know that it'll all be okay
and that I'm there for him
and that love
conquers

I admire this boy with scars
in front of me
and wonder how I'll ever manage
without properly gazing upon
the way his hair is a cloud
on his head, and his complexion
the atlantic, and his eyes are
atlantis, and his personality that of
the great atalanta
and how I'll ever manage without
looking at his always-red nose
and how instead rudolph
reminds me of him.
how this boy likes to play pretend
and read into things too far or ignore them.
how he stresses about school, but
never does his homework completely
and how he
hates his stepmother for
living with him and letting him live
but loves her for it at the same time.
the pictures on his walls,
more of me than anything else,
but I don't remember many times of him
taking them.
how he protects me
and remembers everything just right.

when I'm gone, he'll be okay.
I know he will.
I love him.
