SUNNYDALE, CALIFORNIA: 147 DAYS AGO

TIME SINCE BUFFY SUMMERS' DEATH: ONE HOUR

It had officially been one hour since the death of Buffy Anne Summers. In that short amount of time, a lot had happened.

Between Damon and Stefan along with Spike having to handle the demons that had broken out of the portal, no one had really had a moment to process the fact that Buffy was in fact dead.

Finally, though, they had somehow made it to the morgue.

While Damon handled compelling the staff and Giles went back to the house to try and find any paperwork Buffy may have put together, Stefan and Bonnie had remained in the morgue.

Both of them sat in silence, staring down at Buffy's body as it lay out on a metal slab.

Buffy looked more at peace in her death than she had in her entire life.

Which just made it all more heartbreaking.

Now that her body was related, they could truly see just how much stress she had been under for so long.

With Elena back at the Summers' home, still sobbing violently in Xander's arms, Bonnie finally allowed her own sobs to form as she clutched onto Buffy's cold hand.

Her person was dead.

Buffy was cold and it made Bonnie want to throw up.

Given that Stefan had barely blinked, Bonnie momentarily forgot he was here as she dropped her head to Buffy's silent un-beating chest, sobbing violently.

Her tears stained Buffy's white sweater as she completely fell apart.

Not even noticing Stefan storm out of the room, Bonnie continued to sob as she cupped Buffy's pale face in her hands, mumbling small incantations under her breath.

She had tried every spell she could think of.

She had begged and screamed but the spirits wouldn't let her bring Buffy back.

Leaning her forehead against Buffy's, Bonnie twisted the vervain necklace that Buffy had given her so long ago "You're my person." She whimpered before shaking Buffy's cold arms, trying to wake her up.

Buffy was not dead!

She couldn't be dead!

NO!

"You wake up!" Bonnie practically screamed as tears continued to drip down her cheeks in full force. She felt like she was dying "You hear me, Buff! You wake up! Please wake up!"

Feeling an arm wrap around her waist, Bonnie screamed and frantically tried to crawl back to Buffy's body.

Giles wouldn't let her.

"She's my person! This isn't supposed to be happening!"

Giles inhaled tightly before quickly pulling Bonnie into a tight embrace, letting the Bennett witch sob violently into his chest as she finally cracked, her soul splitting into a million pieces.

As he ran a comforting hand through Bonnie's hair, trying to soothe her through her breakdown, Giles froze as he spotted Damon walk into the room only to freeze as his eyes landed on Buffy's still-cold body.

It was like cold water had just been poured down his back.

Buffy was really dead.

Swallowing down the lump in his throat, Damon tore his eyes away from Buffy's peaceful face and focused on Giles "Stefan?" He whispered.

"Parking lot."

Storming out of the morgue, Stefan frantically made his way to his car.

He couldn't breathe in there.

The longer he stared at Buffy the harder it was not to switch everything off.

He needed her. He had finally had her back for a second only for it to all be torn away.

It hadn't been enough time.

Climbing into his car, Stefan slammed the door shut and just stared at his steering wheel as images of Buffy swam through his mind

Every moment they had together flashed between his eyes before once again, the memory of her shoving him off the tower filled his brain.

Letting out a loud sob as his heart shattered into a million pieces, Stefan finally cracked. Tears started to stream full force down his face as he slammed his hands against the steering wheel screaming at the top of his lungs.
