WHITMORE: PRESENT DAY

"Maybe Elena was right." Buffy suggested to Giles as she and Elena sat in the library conversing with the Watcher over speakerphone while ignoring the few glares being thrown their way by the other students.

Glancing up from her art history book where she had been staring intently at a piece with the initials N.M. Buffy glared at the students growling slightly causing them all to quickly glance back down at their own books, ignoring the two sisters.

Despite now knowing all about the mysterious N.M. Buffy couldn't shut the book, no matter how much she wanted to.

"I am right." Elena cheered with a small smirk as she looked up from her textbook to grin at her sister who was still glaring at the other students, almost daring them to try and tell her to be quiet "Is this the time for that, I told you so?"

Tearing her eyes off the students she was clearly terrifying, Buffy focused her harsh glare on her sister before focusing back on the phone call "She's gotten too snarky for my liking Giles."

"Perhaps it's all the time with you." Giles sassed causing Elena to laugh while Buffy rolled her eyes in annoyance.

She hated it when they teamed up against her.

The sassy Giles and Elena duo was a terrifying pairing.

"Okay, what is with the team-up against Buffy day huh?" Elena laughed only to gulp nervously under her sister's harsh glare. She quickly cleared her throat trying to cover up the laughter "Sorry."

"Did she agree to tell you what happened then?"

"Sort of." Buffy mumbled thinking back to her conversation with Rebekah, the Original had strangely acted almost protective towards her "She said she would call me when I was ready to know, whatever that means."

"All you have to do is engage in a little mean-girl power struggle first." Elena assured her as she took a sip of her coffee, letting the caffeine rush through her veins.

"Let's perhaps make sure Buffy doesn't power struggle her into a building."

At the obvious dig at her previous muck up with the Thriller demon,  Buffy rolled her eyes "I destroy one building one time and everyone's gotta bring it up."

Elena sighed before looking at her sister seriously. She believed in Buffy, even if Buffy didn't believe in herself. She had faith in the blonde, she trusted that Buffy would be okay and find the right path "Buffy you've got this. If we can figure out a way to kill Klaus, you'll be free of this tether. No evil duo."

"Are you sure she's gonna come around?" Ric asked curiously as he joined in on the conversation most probably only just abandoning the mass of images he and Giles had been staring at for hours "I mean, a thousand–year–old vampire, I'm sure, has learned the art of patience."

As the words filled her ears, Buffy frowned as her phone buzzed with a message from the vampire herself "Speak of the devil."

"Rebekah?"

Buffy sighed as she glanced at the message from the vampire who she had somehow found herself quite liking, Rebekah was entertaining for sure, far more so than Klaus. To be honest, if she had to pick a favorite out of the Originals...it would be Rebekah.

"Yep. Watcher and Hunter, we're dealing with a thousand-year-old vampire who has joined the college cheerleading squad. I don't think this is a simple punch first ask questions later kind of play."
