"I-Impa...I never explained why I needed to break off the marriage..what if-" Your hands began to shake, and your throat became tight.
"Child, I'm sure that whatever the reason was, they will understand."
"I-it's just, Sidon is much younger than I am. He was but a child when he was promised to me, and we were to marry when he came of age, b-but..."
"(Y/N), would you like me to read the letter?" Paya offered. You nodded your head gratefully, and handed her the letter.
"'Dear Princess (Y/N),
I am writing to you to inform you of an issue with our Divine Beast, Vah Ruta, of which I'm sure you remember our dearest Princess Mipha piloted, before the Calamity took her away.'" You gave out a wince, but gestured for Paya to keep reading,"'It came to our understanding years ago that your sister, Princess Zelda, had a great interest in the technology, and she explained that you shared a similar interest. My son and I would like to invite you to Zora's Domain, where hopefully you can solve the problem. If you wish to come, we will explain more once you are here. We don't have much time.
Signed, King Dorephan.'"
Your eyes widened. You haven't heard of the Divine Beasts in so many years. Vah Ruta, the Divine Beast Mipha piloted, was your favourite to visit. You and Mipha became very close after you first met her. It would be very hard to go back.
"I need to leave. Now," You said bluntly,"the Kingdom still needs me."
Impa smiled at your determination,"I wish you good luck on your journey. I'll go ask Dorian to fetch your horse." And with that, Impa left.
"You can't leave so quickly! Y-what if Link wakes up, and you're not here? H-he needs you.." Paya began to tear up. You gently brushed her tears away with your thumb.
"I won't be gone for a long, a week tops. Link always sleeps in, anyway." You and Paya both laughed at your statement.
"Okay," She said,"but I'll miss you. I'll let you pack a bag and get changed. I'll be downstairs."
"Thank you, Paya."
Paya had left the letter on her desk. You picked it up, and read it over. Sighing, you put it back on the desk, and grabbed a satchel that you kept by your bed. You still had your old Hylian Tunic, neatly folded up in your wardrobe, as well as your boots and Hylian Hood. You knew they'd come in handy one day.
-
You threw the bag over your shoulder, and began to head downstairs.
"Well, I guess this is it." You said to Paya and Impa. They were both staring at the door. You, being only halfway down the staircase, couldn't see what they were gaping at. Paya immediately looked up to you, and grabbed your hand and pulled you the rest of the way down the stairs.
There, in front of you, was none other than Link.
