Chapter 33 - Her Warmth

"Yes, Reimako?"

Rei stares at me blushing bright red.

"What is it, Reimako?"

"U-umm...i, uh..."

"W-we..."

"We're not gonna go in the bath together but,..."

"We can share these blankets, right?"

"Huh!?" i blurt this out startled by what she said.

"S-share the blanket?!"

"W-well it's a little cold by myself..."

(W-well, yeah i guess...)

No wait, what am i thinking~ That's not a good reason, but she's the one who suggested it, would it really be okay?

(At this rate, Rei might catch at cold.)

(W-what should i do?!)

After i wrestle with the decision for a moment, my head feeling as if it's about to explode.

"Uh...All right."

Desperately trying to control my pounding heart, i hold up my blanket.

"G-Go ahead..."

My voice almost cracks as i say this.

 "Oh...T-thanks..."

Then, she slips into the blanket next to me.

The two of us snuggle together under a single blanket.

We're so close that i can feel her breathing and my heart pounds even faster.

"This is nice and warm..."

"Y-yeah..."

(My heart is really pounding, it's still a bit cold but i can feel my body is warming up...i kinda feel hot now.)

As i sit there my head ready to burst.

"Hey, Mina." she murmurs.

"What is it, Reimako?"

"I've decided."

"..? Decided, on what?"

"I'm going to talk to my dad, properly!"

"W-with your dad?"

"Yes...i don't want things to stay like this..." she looks down slightly as she murmurs this.

"You know, i was planning on running away from this forever..."

"Running away?" i replied.

"From my parents getting a divorce...from the fact that i felt uncomfortable around my dad when she left us and lie to me."

"From myself, and the fact that i couldn't trust guys..."

"But..." she said looking up.

as she does her usual gentle smile has returned to her face.

"I want to change."

"You made me think that, Mina."

"Huh?! oh..."

Her warm words make my heart tremble.

I feel so happy to hear her say this, and i nod firmly.

"I-i see..."

"Good luck, Reimako."

"Thanks."

"I'm going to face my problems, rather than try to run away."

"I believe you can do it, Rei."

She tells me her big decision with such passion and vindication, so there's something i need to tell her, too.

 "S-say, Reimako..."

"Yes, Mina."

I look at her straight in the eye.

"There's something i want to tell you, as well..."

She seems to what is it i'm going to say, and stares back into my eyes.

"Th-there's something i want to say."

She looks up to me, blushing ever so slightly.

My heart races at an incredible speed.

"U-umm..."

"Yes?" she replied staring at me with her dazzling eyes.

"I-i..."

"I like you, Reimako."

"Eh?"

Reimako blushes from ear to ear.

Even with her face bright red though, she still looks back at me.

"I..."

"I like you too, Mina!"

My heart's about to jump when...

"....as a friend, i like you as a friend, Mina. she said with a bright smile.

"Gah!" I sat there in shock as i felt my heart breaks into small pieces.

*Pfff!* Reimako snickered.

"That's for leaving without telling me."

"Huh?!"

"And this..."

her face drew near and in just a flash her lips landed on my damp cheeks.

"Eh?"

"Silly, i like you too, Mina."

"I like you a lot!"

At that moment without thinking... i embrace her

As we sat alone in my room.

"Mina..."

"From now on, i want you to always stay by my side."

"Of course! ...I'll always stay with you Reimako."

"And, Mina can you call me Rei from now on?"

"Of course, Rei."

Rei and i finally understand how each other feels as if gripping onto our happiness...

We stay there as each other's arms for what feels like forever...
