Chapter Twelve~

We sat on my small couch for a little bit, before I stood up with an idea.

"Okay... First things first.... We need to but you more clothes. That will not last you all week." I pointed my finger at his chest, which made him look down at what he was wearing. A strand of his black hair fell when he looked down.

"I suppose your right..." He admitted, pulling his head up. I smiled at him, then turned around to walk to the counter in the kitchen to grab my keys. Loki followed close behind me as I opened the door for me and him. I guess we could go to the mall....I didn't really want anyone to recognize Loki, but I we could always lie or something.

I walked over to the dustly front door, and opened it, letting in the warmth from outside in. Since it was summer, it was nearly 95 degrees here, hotter than it normally was in North Carolina. And I loved it. I still wore my long jeans pants and my jean jacket out in the sun in the middle of the day. It felt so amazing.

"It's not this hot in Asgard..." Loki commented. I turned and gave him a grin as we aproched my car. It was little and black, and needed a wash. I unlocked it for Loki and he slowly climbed in the front seat next to me.

"Alice?" He asked, waiting for me to respond. I stopped in motion of putting the key in the ignition and looked into his green eyes. I liked the way he said my name. It made me happy inside.

"Did you know everything you own smells like campfire?" He laughed making fun of me. I covered my face with my hands and started the car smiling. Because of my fire abilities, I accedently breathed smoke and fire everywhere, causing it to smell, I guess like a campfire. I remembered someone else told me that too, but I kind of got used to the smell and didn't notice it anymore. I laughed again and backed out of the parking space and headed to the mall.

As soon as I stepped out of the car, I noticed the clouds above me darken. Crap. If it rains, I'll be stranded inside the mall. I remembered the feeling of it burning through my skin and it made my stomach hurt. If I had checked the wheather this morning, I wouldn't have left the house. Loki noticed me worrying.

"I doubt it will rain..." He assured me as he stepped out of the car. I looked at him with a worried face. He had remembered my problem with cold water and how it disolved me skin when it was in contact with my skin. I hated that. It made my life harder than it already was.

"Let's hope." I answered now in the direction of the mall entrance. First thing we did when we walked in was buy him more shirts like the one he was wearing and bought him jeans. It was funny, for the almighty god of mischeif to be wearing jeans. It made me laugh at just the thought of it. We ended up walked around more, with no one recognizing us, and decided that what we got was enough. We walked out of the door, and as soon as the automatic doors swung open, I noticed how dark it had gotten outside. I stopped as soon as I reached the outdoors, and stood underneith the roof covering me. The sky was covered in shady rain clouds, ready to pour cold rain over me, giving me goosebumps. Loki stopped where he was walking, and noticed the sky too. He raised his eyesbrows and looked concerned for me.

"Let's just hurry." I said now sprinting out in the open. Loki followed, then ran in front and suprised me by opening my car door to let me in. I smiled at how nice that was. After I jumped in, the fastest I ever have before, Loki slammed my door shut for me, ran around the car, and leaped in the passenger side. I laughed and started the car as fast as I could, trying to beat the wheather. My heart dropped when I saw fat rain drops, hit my windsheild and splattered across. Loki glanced at me, noticing me panic.

"CRAP." I shouted. I sped up even more and waited for the gate to the apartment complex to open. I nearly hit it when it was in the motion of opening, because I was hurrying and was impatient. I found a parking spot as close to the door as I could, but after I had parked, the wheather had gotten worse. There was more fat sprinkles of rain hitting my windsheild, making my heart beat faster. I could feel it in my neck, I thought it would burst right out of my chest.

"I don't know what to do." I told Loki next to me. He knew I couldn't be touched by the water. I covered my face in my arms on the steering wheel and listened to the light rain hitting the car windows.

"Well it will only get worse. We should try and leave now." Loki told me. I exahiled, and decided he was right.

"Okay. I have a huge umbrella in the back seat. Can you reach it? I think its right behind my seat." I asked, with a shaky breath.

"Oh, sure." He replied and leaned over the middle cup holders in between us. He was stretched out and his shirt lifted a little because of it, exposing the pale skin on his side. I didn't know why but I found it really atractive. Stop it! Stop thinking these things Alice, I told myself. I won't allow it. Finally he found my dirty umbrella and opened it half way inside the car, making me forget about my previous thought. Thank goodness. "Are you ready?" Loki asked me. I sighed and looked at the water droplets hitting my windsheild. I imagined instead of the water crashing against the window, it was my skin, but I quickly tried to erase the thought. It hurt too much to think about it.

"I guess. It's now or never!" And not two seconds later Loki swung his door open and ran over to my side. The rain was getting heavier and he had the umbrella fully open and ready for me. He looking in at me from outside and I could feel a lump in my throat as I reached for the handle of the door. I took a deep breath, opened the door, and hid underneith the umbrella Loki was carrying. Thank goodness he was so tall, it hovered above me at the perfect height. I closed the door and stepped out completly into the rain.

"Come on... I'll assist you!" Assured Loki as we began walking out in the parking lot. He had his arm around me and was sheilding me from any water. It made me feel so protected. I didn't know Loki was like that. I smiled inside, but was still panicked about the water. We took small steps, as the rain was getting heavier on top of the umbrella. My body was uncontrollale shaking, I was terrified of the water.

"AHH! Oh my God!!" I screamed. A single raindrop touched the back of my hand. Steam was flying off my skin and I screamed more and shook my hand, hoping that would help, but of course it didn't. I could feel the skin peeling off of my hand and pain seeping deep down inside. I pressed my hand against my chest and covered it with my other hand as tears were begining to spill from my eyes.

"Okay, I understand why your so worried now." Loki said, grabbing a hold of my burning hand and holding it in his. I couldn't believe he did that, it was so sweet. His hand was still so cold, but I stopped caring. I loved how it made me feel inside. "Here, let me help you." Loki said, and kneeled down next to me. He then suprised me and swung me backward into his arms and ran as he carried me across the parking lot. I stopping freaking out and smiled a little. He gave me a smile back as I leaned my head against his chest and held onto his shoulders. I could feel his heart beating through his thin shirt, and it made me smile even harder. I liked it. "Are you alright?" He asked as we were half way across. When he talked, his voice vibrated through his chest.

"Yes! I'm....great.." I answered softly. I don't think I've ever liked a man this much before. I gave up on trying to stop having feelings for him. I knew I liked him. We were both misunderstoof and confused with life. We understood each other, and that's all that I cared about. I never thought Loki could be so sweet. I hoped so bad that he felt the same.

"Alright, here we are." Loki said as he lowered me onto the stable concrete beneith me. We were out from under the rain and safe in the outside of my door with a roof above us. I laughed a little, as he stood back up and threw the wet and beaten umbrella down on the ground next to my door.

"Thank you." I told Loki as I looked up to his green eyes. He gave me a grin and brushed a stray hair out of my face. My heart was beating even faster and louder, I was so sure he could hear it. Embarrased from staring at his eyes a second too long, I turned away and pulled out my keys and opened the door behind me.
