Buffy had taken off.

The longer Buffy was away, the more panicked Elena became. Hence why she was up first thing in the morning, jogging through the streets of Mystic Falls.

She needed the distraction from the overwhelming worry threatening to consume her.

Yet, all she could think about was Buffy.

She had barely heard from Buffy since homecoming, hell she hadn't even come home and that was over a week ago.

She had been staying somewhere else and had been very quiet which just made her worry even more. She knew Buffy was struggling with her emotions, plus her daily nightmares were probably making it hard for her to get any sleep.

Pausing as her phone vibrated she took in a deep breath as she leaned on her knees for a moment, allowing herself to catch her breath before grabbing her phone.

Sighing she stared at the message from Buffy.

'All good, don't worry xxx'

Elena took in a worried breath before placing her phone back into the arm holster.

Then she spotted someone running toward her.

Frowning she watched him for a moment, a sense of déjà-vu filled her as she remembered back to that time in Sunnydale when a hybrid had followed her on her run.

Clenching her jaw she took off running again and that sense of panic and déjà-vu slowly grew more apparent as he continued to follow her, turning a corner she glanced back at him watching as she turned the corner.

Her eyes widened in panic as she spotted him turn the corner, speeding forward again she ran faster hearing him behind her only making her move faster.

Finally, she turned another corner, coming to a stop she sighed in relief when he doesn't follow her.

Elena took in a shaky breath before turning to head home only to crash into the exact same guy who had just been chasing her.

"Excuse me." He breathed out apologetically as he took out his headphones "I should have been watching where I was going."

Elena gulped nervously "Don't worry about it."

"Have a nice day."

Today was certainly not a nice day.

"I think I'm going crazy." Elena told Bonnie as the two of them sat together in The Grill, Elena explaining to her what had happened this morning while on her run "It's like Glory all over again, I feel like I'm losing it."

"You have every right to be." Bonnie assured her honestly as she offered her best friend a supportive smile.

It wasn't surprising that Elena was constantly paranoid given the history.

"Klaus is still out there and he knows you tried to kill him."

The mention of Klaus made her worry quickly transform into utter terror. There had been no sign of him since homecoming which probably meant trouble was coming their way.

They were currently in the calm before the inevitable storm.
