Song of the Chapter - Wire by The Neighbourhood

The gates creaked open for us and the whole community was now visible to our eyes. We walked in with our guns in our hands but not pointed up at anyone. the community was big and had people doing work everywhere. "Hey, thanks again." Harlan spoke as he helped his injured friend. I was standing beside Glenn and Maggie as him and his fellow friends walked past us.

"Come see me whenever. I'm just in the medical trailer, okay?" He said, pointing towards Maggie and Glenn. Harlan walked off with his injured friend and I looked to Maggie. "Maybe you're right Maggie. Maybe we can learn to trust more people." I said and she smiled at me. "We will." She answered me and I nodded.

Jesus started to speak up and explain things to make everything more clearer for us. "There was a materials yard for a power company nearby. That's how we put up the walls." Jesus explained and continued to make us follow him further inside this community. I looked around and saw families with trailers and hanging up their washing.

"A lot of people came from a FEMA camp. Trailers came with 'em." He spoke about the people in front of us. Michonne started to ask questions that we all need answers to. How do people find out about this place? "How did people find out about this place?" She asked him and he turned around, looking up at the big building.

He pointed up towards the big white walls and starting speaking. "That's called the Barrington house. The family that owned it gave it to the state in the '30s. The state turned it into a living history museum." He said, trying to make himself sound very enthusiastic. "Every elementary school for 50 miles used to come here for field trips. This place was running a long time before the modern world built up around it. I think people came here because they figured it'd keep running after the modern world broke down." He explained and stared back at the big building.

Jesus pointed towards the windows on the very top of the building. "Those windows up there let us see for miles in every direction. It's perfect for security. Come on. I'll show you inside." Jesus said and motioned towards us to follow him inside. I looked over at Abraham and continued walking.

"Do you trust him?" He asked me as we walked up the little hill. I looked around at the people. "You mean, this place? or HIM?" I asked Abraham and he looked over to me. "Either." He said and I looked up at him. I wasn't sure at all if this place was gonna kill us or hurt us or give us food, water and a home. "I don't know Abe." I answered and he nodded.

"Listen, you or Carl ain't tryna' make babies are yah?" He asked me and I frowned. "Look, me and Carl just love each other and I'm sure you and Rosita are the exact same." I admitted to him. He sighed and nodded. "But yes, I would love to have a family of my own. Just not now, it honestly would be the worst of times." I said and he chuckled slightly.

As we all made our way inside the building we looked around. It was squeaky clean and not a mark was in sight. "Most of the rooms have been converted to living spaces. Even the ones that weren't bedrooms." Jesus said and pulled off his gloves. "People live here and the trailers?" Rick asked jesus and he stared at him.

"We plan to build. Theirs babies being born." Jesus said just before a door swung open. A man was revealed as he stared at Jesus. He wore a suit with a blue shirt and he looked reasonably old. "Jesus. You're back." He said and searched the room, staring at us strangers. "With guests." He spoke again and his eyes landed on me. I squinted my eyes at him and he muttered underneath his breath. "That one scares me."
