At the end book 9, Pauline goes to Will to thank him because Halt told her everything. So imagine Halt indeed telling Pauline everything that happened. And she says, "I'm glad you're not dead, Halt." It takes him a moment, but finally Halt replies: "Honestly, Pauline, so am I."
