Memories

It was a normal morning for the Khanna family. Bebe and Shweta were making breakfast while Prakash was getting ready for work. Neil woke up to find his bedside empty
"Arreh, where is Avni??", he thought. His eyes scrolled across the room and tried to locate his wifey but he couldn't find her at all. He went to Mowgli's room and she was not there. He quickly freshened up and hoped that she was in the kitchen. As soon he came to the dining table, he scanned the room to find her but alas couldn't see her at all. "Neil who are you looking for?" asked Bebe, inquisitively. "Woh Bebe, where is Avni?", he asked. "Oh god Neil, you cannot even stay away from your wife today huh?" teased Shweta. "Mom..." Neil exclaimed. "Beta, she said she had some important job today" said Bebe. Neil nodded and thought "What important thing could she have been having today?". Then it suddenly hit him. Today was Neela Maas Death anniversary. "Mom, Dad, Bebe, will you please take care of Mowgli, I need to go to Avni fast!" He cried. "Ok Tillu, but what's the hurry?" Asked Bebe. " it's Neela Maa's death anniversary" Neil answered. Shweta slapped her forehead in her ignorance while Bebe and Prakash looked guilty. "There's no need to feel guilty. Right now we need to cheer up Avni today". The family nodded while Neil left
Meanwhile, Avni was on the cliffside. She looked at the sky and started talking to it as if she as talking to her mother
"Hi Maa, how are you? I am good now since I have my perfect family with me. Maa, I miss you and I always will. When I got shot in the chest, I almost died but you gave me a life. You given me a rebirth. I would not have thought to live if you were not there. You made me a sherni! You made me feel strong and capable of fighting against others. You never took the place of Ayesha Maa place but you created your own special place in my heart. I will always be forever indebted towards you. Maa, when you could have married the man of your dreams, you decided to take care of an illegitimate kid instead. Maa, you saved me from so many people like Dayawanti Mehta and you gave me the strength that I needed in myself. I remember when I was supposed to marry Neil, I was so mad at you but you were adamant. You believed that Neil and I love each other which we ignored until our true feelings arrived. Maa, you gave me so many things. You gave me a new life, a new reason to live, motherly love but most importantly you gave me Neil. Neil is the best husband I could've asked for and your decision of me marrying him was the best decision. Maa, I hate that you left me. Everyone who's special to me left me. Ayesha Maa, papa and you. Can I tell you a secret. When you died, I envisioned Dayawanti Mehta telling me that im a sin. That time I believed and to be honest I still believe at times". Avni started sobbing hard, unleashing her emotions out like Neil taught her too when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around to see Neil, who then engulfed her into hug. Avni started sobbing Into Neil's shoulder and Neil started to caress her back, attempting to calm her down. "Woh srry NeiL, I left without telling anybody. I just wanted to be on my own" explained Avni. "It's ok Avni. Sometimes we need to be alone for a while but it's important that we share our emotions. It's better to release the emotions than bottling them up." Avni kept sobbing. Seeing his love cry in front of him, broke Neil's heart and his heart shattered to pieces. "Avni, sh." NeiL
consoled. He made Avni look at him. Her red eyes, made his heart wrench and he then placed an affectionate kiss on her forehead to
Make her feel better.
"Avni, you know what I do when I'm sad about someone? I remember the good times that I had with that person. I used to do that with Juhi's death and I did that with you as well. Then I'm no longer sad then. I learned to live memories and so should you. Plus, I heard your whole conversation with Neela Maa. How could you think you are a sin huh? How could you even think you were an omen?"
"Woh Neil.." Avni tried to explain but Neil just put his hand in front of her as an attempt to stop her.
"Avni bas! I do not want to hear anymore!", with that he grabbed her arms strongly. "You think you are a bad omen right? You think that everyone close to you dies right? Well then answer this question, when I almost died from the bomb blast who saved me?                                                         Avni nodding meekly: Me                                                                                                                                                   Neil: That's correct. What about the time when I almost died from Vidyut clutches? Who broke out of jail to save me?                                                                                                                                                      Avni: Me.                                                                                                                                                                                Neil: How about when you almost died from being buried in a wall or from the gas leak. Who saved you then?                                                                                                                                                                               Avni: It was you.                                                                                                                                                                  Neil: Exactly. (he then cupped her face). Avni don't you get it? We are made for each other. We save each other in times of need. You are not a bad omen. Infant you made my life brighter. You taught me the real meaning of love. You brought life into me. After Juhi's death, my life was just robotic. I was a robot with no feelings and I just did things to a routine. I never really smiled or anything. But when you entered my life as case 123, I found a purpose in my life. You became my obsession and I was obsessed with solving you. You gave me a purpose to live and when I admit when we first got married, I was upset but then when I found the real you, I started falling in love you".  Avni's eyes welled up then and gave Neil a tight bone crushing hug. Neil almost lost his balance but held the railing. He smiled and rubbed her back soothingly.                                               Neil: Avni, now let's do what I was talking about?                                                                                              Avni: "What" she asked innocently.                                                                                                                          Neil: Let's go home and talk about the memories of Neela Maa. I know it will be tough but it's important that we cherish the memories, instead of remorsing the past.  Avni nodded and Neil wrapped an arm around her and started walking back home
When Avneil reached home, Avni saw a surprise for her. The whole house was decorated with Neela Maa
