A/N- This song was greatly inspired by the song High Hopes by Kodaline. I have also just noticed that the guy in this video is Liam Cunningham who plays Davos Seaworth in the GoT's TV show, what a coincidence.

You could feel the tears making tracks down your cheeks as the riding party left Winterfell. You had promised yourself that you wouldn't cry, not over them, but here you were in the highest tower you could get entrance to, bawling like a child as you watched them get smaller and smaller on the horizon.

Once they were fully out of your sight, hidden by a line of trees in the distance, you allowed yourself to look away, turning and sitting down with your back to the wall. Jon would be so mad if he could see you now, you had told him that you would be strong, but you didn't feel it at all, not when he was gone. He is never coming back, you told yourself, trying to silence your screaming mind as it called out to be with him. "He can't come back," you muttered to yourself, letting out a small huff of air, he would never know that you weren't being strong.

It didn't take too long to pull yourself back together, remembering that Lady Stark would be expecting you in Bran's chambers soon enough. You had never been gone from his side for long since his fall; his mother would need a break, some time to get some sleep and something to eat, and you were the only one she trusted to leave him with. You couldn't explain it, you had always suspected that she had disliked you because of your love for Jon, but if there was any hostility in her it had faded after Bran's fall.

"Lady Stark?" you asked, knocking lightly on the door as you pushed it slowly open, glancing around it until she came into your view, giving you a soft smile.

"Good morning, Y/N," she told you quietly. Her eyes were red, her cheeks puffier than usual. She had been crying, of course she had, her son could be on his death bed and her husband and only daughters had left Winterfell at the same time Jon had.

"You don't mind if I join you, do you?" you asked her softly, moving across the room and sitting opposite her, glancing across the bed at her faltering smile.

"Of course not, I would be happier for the company."

The two of you sat in silence for a few moments, the only noise coming from the window as the wind rushed through the gaps. "I hope you don't mind me asking, Lady Stark, but why is it that men always leave when things get difficult?" you asked her and she let out a soft chuckle as she looked up from her sewing.

"It depends what man you are speaking of, My Dear," she answered lightly, skirting around your question and causing your eyebrows to knit together.

"Well, Lord Stark left Winterfell," you started again, but she cut you off with a shake of her head.

"My husband left because the King asked it of him," she told you, giving you a small smile, "and he is far too honourable to deny his friend such an important request, otherwise he never would have left."

"My Father left after my mother died, he could have stayed and cared for me himself but it was easier to leave."

"Your father had no choice, he could not afford to feed you both and he knew that Lord Stark owed him a favour, child," she told you with a small, sad smile.

"Then what did I do to make Jon leave?" You watched her face soften as she got to her feet and moved around the bed to kneel before you.

"You did nothing, Y/N, when he came to say goodbye to Bran he mentioned not feeling like he belonged here, that has nothing to do with you," she told you, watching as you sniffled and forced away the tears that wanted to escape you.
