Jimin

"We have to go back" he says as I finish a plate of scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. Jungkook watches as he leaves most of his breakfast untouched.

"No" I say adamantly. Jungkook exhales, trying to stay calm.
"Jimin, we have to get you help, to a hospital where they can treat you" he insists. I take his hand.
"That man, in the photo. I need to know what happened to him. To know where his story ended so ours could begin" I explain. He pouts slightly as he thinks it through.

"If we're going to do this, I need you to promise me something....can you do that?" he asks. I nod and squeeze his hand gently.
"Promise that no matter what happens, we'll stay together" he says. I smile and nod.
"I promise" I say. Jungkook nods and stands up. Last night's argument leaves an awkward atmosphere around us. I get up and snake an arm around Jungkook's waist as we pay and leave the diner.

"Your hair looks pretty good" he says ruffling my hair as we walk across the parking lot.
"Is that so?" I tease. Jungkook smiles and kisses me gently.
"Yeah, it suits you. Just don't go dying it random colours" he says as we reach the car. I lean against the car door.
"Aw, really. I was thinking of going pink next" I say as I get in. Jungkook gets in next to me and chuckles.
"In your dreams, Jiminie" he teases, giving me a wink. He scoff and buckle myself in.
"Whatever you say, Kookie" I fire back before Jungkook's phone buzzes, wiping the smiles from our faces. We both glance at each other in alarm; it wouldn't be Jungkook's friends. They aren't stupid enough to call. Jungkook reaches over and takes the phone, checking the caller id.

"Its my parents" he says quietly, the atmosphere in the car darkening.
"You don't have to-" I start before he gets out of the car, slamming the door behind him. I watch as he picks up and speaks before getting cut off. He listens before trying to cut in. I can see the anger in his voice as he shouts into the phone. Then his face falls, almost like he's been crumpled up like a piece of paper. That's when I know something has gone wrong because tears start falling down his cheeks and he has a pained look on his face.

Jungkook roughly wipes his face as he returns to the car. He sits and doesn't move, his hands resting on the steering wheel and head hung low. I take his phone and mine and get out of the car, briskly walking over to a bin and dumping them in it. Walking back to the car, I see Jungkook hasn't moved from his position.
"What did they say?" I ask, my heart thudding under my ribs in anger. Jungkook is holding onto the steering wheel so tightly, his knuckles have turned white.

"Jungkook, do you-" I start before he finally speaks.
"They don't want anything to do with me. They said how could they care for a son like-like me. That I'm a freak for......for loving boys like you" he explains, his voice quiet and defeated. I look down at my hands. It was me who put Jungkook in this mess. I was the one who talked to him first, who pushed and pushed to come to Earth and meet Jungkook. But it seems that everything I've done has ended up hurting Jungkook.

"I'm sorry" I say quietly. Jungkook looks in my direction, lifting my chin so that I'm looking into his eyes.

"We made a promise, remember, and I don't make promises with just anyone. I don't care about what they say, I love you. You have nothing to be sorry for, Jimin" he says leaning over to place a gentle kiss on my nose.

"I don't need them as long as I have you" he says, starting the car. I nod and lean back  in my seat as the car pulls out into the early morning traffic. I ignore the growing pain in my chest and the unspoken question that hangs over us like a noose.

How long do we really have?
