"Hey Em! Kim told me that a new bakery opened in town. Someone who recently moved here or something." Embry was watching the television from a comfortable seat on the sofa when Quil came into the room to announce the new bakery.

"A bakery? Like with pastries and stuff?" His eyebrows furrowed slightly as he turned to his friend.

Quil scoffed. "No, they sell spaceships." Embry simply shrugged in response, putting his feet on the floor instead of the sofa.

"I got some money from my mom the other day, we could try something?"

"Good, I'm so bored." Quil overdramatized his movements, making it seem like he had been locked up with nothing to do in a cold room for an hour. Which he hadn't, of course. "Wanna race there?"

The sentence sparked something in Embry, like he had to win that race. "Wait, we can't shift and run there. How would we get clothes?"

Quil squinted for a second, thinking. "Race you to the truck?" The two boys ran out the door swiftly while trying actively to compromise each other.

Embry drove them there after winning the race to the truck with a clear lead on Quil. "I've never seen you run that fast, Em." Quil said in the car as they panted. "You're usually too fat for that." Embry pushed his friend, making Quil bump his arm into his car door.

"Of course you have. You don't think I'm fast?" They played it off like nothing, neither expecting what would happen in the next half an hour.
