I don't know if today was my day to die or what.

We were only supposed to be picking up Kamila and my Aunt from the airport. Not being in the middle of the crossfire.

My heart was racing like crazy. The windshield didn't break from the bullets flying at it which flustered me.

What the hell was going on? This wasn't some action movie.

Jaxon cursed under his breath, pushing me onto the car floor. He tossed his phone to me. "Call Tyler. Just say the red and whatever you do, don't call the police."

He opened the door and I grabbed his arm. "What are you doing?!"

He shook my hand off, getting out of the car. I peered over the dashboard, frantically trying to find Jaxon but, I couldn't see him through the all the people on the streets who were running for their lives. People scrambled out of their cars, sprinting off abandoning them. There was a black van, blocking half of the street and group of men in suits shooting towards the car while some shot towards a store which I'm not pretty sure why. I wanted to run too but, something told me to stay put.

I sat back down and called Tyler, trying to stop my hands from shaking. The phone picked up on the fourth ring. "Sup, J?"

"Jaxon told me to call you and say red?" My voice got high at the end, making it seem more like question. I heard him curse under his breath.

"He was supposed to be avoiding this bullshit."

"What do you mean?" I asked but, the call went dead. Well, he's rude. I went to call the police but, then Jaxon's words repeated in my head. What the hell did he mean, don't call the police? They should be dealing this.

The car door opened and I sighed in relief, seeing it was Jaxon. He put the car in drive and sped off. The gunshots faded away and I climbed up on the seat, putting on my seatbelt.

"What's going on? Who were they?"

Jaxon glared at the road. "Don't worry about it."

I clenched my fists. "Stop hiding whatever the hell your hiding from me! I could've died just now! What were those people? Did that guy in the hoodie send them?"

"I can't say." He said firmly. I huffed, unlocking my door and opening it. He quickly turned into a crowded parking lot. He reached over, shutting the door closed but, stayed hovering over me. I crossed my arms, keeping my ground. "What is wrong with you?"

I glared at him. "Tell me what I need to know. Right now."

He stared at me, for a minute before sitting back in his seat not breaking his gaze. I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding as he started talking.

"Just... don't leave once I tell you, promise me that?"

I slowly nodded, starting to get nervous. He took a deep breath. "Those men were sent to kill me because I haven't done what I was asked by my boss."

"Boss? You mean that guy in the hoodie?" He nodded.

"And what exactly is it that he wants you to do?"

"We made a deal a long time ago when we first transferred to Harrison actually. You and I talked for the first time and he was there to witness."

I raised an eyebrow and he sighed. "Judging by the confused on your face, you don't remember."

I looked up at the ceiling of the car, tracing back to the beginning of junior year.
