A/N- Based on "I'm With You" by Avril Lavigne. This album, and this song in particular, will always mean a lot to me and never fails to make me emotional (not actually that hard of a task.) I hope you enjoy it, but please feel free to leave comments and tell me what you think, either way.

You had been standing on the bridge, that ran over one of the many lakes in the gardens, for what seemed like forever. You were cold and tired and he was late again, but there was no way you would leave without seeing him. Robert was always inconsistent with his visits; some weeks he would ask to see you every evening, and he would turn up on time, and kiss you like you were the only two people in the world that mattered; other times you would have to beg to see him, and he would turn up late, if he ever actually made it, and when he was with you he would be silent, not coming anywhere near you. You were hesitant to say that you loved him. It was obvious that he cared for you, but when he was in one of his moods he acted as though he was repulsed by the idea of you.

The stone hand rail was cold as you rested your hands on it, cooling them to the point where you felt a shiver run through your body. Of all nights for him to choose not to show, tonight was the worst. You turned, hoisting yourself up to sit on the rail and swinging your legs as you released a deep sigh. He had never been this late before. A gust of wind whistled through the gardens, pushing your hair into your face and rustling the bushes in a way that seemed almost menacing to you.

You stayed that way for a few more moments, your eyes trying to scan the darkness for the man you had been waiting for, but when there was no sign of him you gave up, your eyes filling with tears. You slipping back to your feet, swiping at the tears and walking as fast as you could away from your usual meeting spot. You had just reached the doors when they swung open, revealing Robert.

He smiled at you and you felt your heart jump into your throat. "I'm sorry I took so long," he mumbled, reaching his hand out towards you, only for you to flinch away from him.

"Fuck you," you grumbled, shoving past him and back into the keep, hoping you would make it back to your chambers without being seen. There would be no way to explain why you were walking around in the dead of night, and crying none the less.

You hadn't made it far when Roberts hand wrapped around yours, encasing it completely and causing you to slow down, coming to a complete stop not long after. "What's the matter?"

"You left me out there waiting for you," you yelped, trying to pull away again, to no avail.

"I told you I was sorry," he started and you shook your head at him.

"Sorry isn't enough anymore," you told him softly, "I was out there alone, and I was scared, and you weren't there."

Robert frowned down at you for a moment before pulling you into his arms, "I'm sorry, Ned needed me, I didn't even think about how horrible it must have been for you."

You sniffled into his chest for a moment before crumbling, allowing him to hold you properly. "It's damn cold, too," you grumbled against him, feeling his body shake as he attempted to hold back his laughter.

"I'm sorry," he whispered softly as you glared playfully up at him, unable to stop a smile from forming on your lips.

"You ought to be, you're the only reason i'm still in this god forsaken city," you mumbled, feeling his arms tighten for a moment before loosening again.

"Well then, I am very, very sorry," he uttered back, moving backwards to sit on one of the stone benches that lined the corridor and pulling you into his lap.
