My phone tapped in rhythm against my leg the entire morning. A new and unfamiliar part of me itched to text Connor and see how he was doing. Any and all attempts to quell such a feeling had failed magnificently as I sat through a series of morning classes in a daze.

It was unwelcome, this desire. Connor had never been my friend and I certainly wasn't about to let him believe I cared for him in any matter by sending a welfare text.

Still, I'd been partly responsible for this. His friends couldn't have walked in on us if I hadn't made the decision to go over there in the first place.

By third period, my mind was set. I reached into my pocket under the table to retrieve my phone. A text was the only thing that would satisfy my concern right now.
