I wake up to the bright sun shining through the windows. The sunshine added to the pounding of my skull. What the hell did I do? I shifted in the bed and to my worst nightmare, a girl with blonde hair is on the other side of my bed. My bed. What the fuck is she doing here? I can't remember a thing from last night and just attempting to remember makes my head pound harder.
The mysterious girl is still sleeping and once I get up I know exactly what happened last night. How could I be so careless? I mean I haven't had a one night stand since high school. I need to get out of here.
I decide to go on a run. It will distract me from all the problems in my life. So, I quickly put on running shorts and my tennis shoes. She will get up and hopefully leave soon, so I don't have to see her again.
My heart pounds against my chest as I jog down the sidewalk. Sweat drips down my face as my pace gets faster and faster. I run until I can't run anymore and finally stop.
My phone vibrates in my hand. I look down at the caller ID and see that my mom is calling. I don't hesitate and press the answer button.
"Hey, sweetie. I was going to surprise you and show up to your apartment, but I come in and there is a girl in your shirt laying on the couch. Care to explain?" She murmurs into the phone.
I freeze. I thought the random girl would be gone by now.
"I'll be there in a minute," I sigh and hang up the phone.
Turning on my heels, I jog back to the apartment faster than before. What could she be thinking right now? Probably that her son is a man whore.
"I'm here," I say breathlessly.
I see my mother's face and her lips are set in a hard line.
"Can I speak with you in here?" She asks and points to my office.
I follow her into the room and know that she is about to yell at me. She has that face that just screams your ass is in trouble. I know she closes the door once I hear a click.
"What the hell is that out there?" She whispers.
"Well, a girl as you can tell," I say back.
As a result, she smacks me upside the head.
"I know what a girl looks like. Brooklyn just ran out before you got here once she saw her. What's going on between you two?" She questions with a glare.
"Wait, Brooklyn?" I ask.
"Yes, Brooklyn," my mother confirms.
Furry runs through my blood as I go to where the blonde haired girl from last night is.
"Get out!" I yell.
"Baby." She gets up and runs her hand over my arm. I move my arm away fast before she can touch me again.
"No, I want you gone before I get back," I say before running out of my apartment.
When I get to the front door of the building I see that it is raining. I hope that she isn't walking in this weather, but I don't give it another thought before running out.
Once outside, I quickly look around and see a few people running from the rain. I then spot her. Brooklyn's dark brown hair looks black as she walks down the sidewalk quickly. She could get sick in this weather.
I tried to catch up to her, but she heard the loud footsteps hitting puddles and looked behind her. Brooklyn's eyes widened and she turned to walk faster. In a couple of strides, I caught up to her and grabbed her wrist, pulling her into an alley.
Once she turned around tears flowed from her eyes and you almost couldn't tell them apart from raindrops.
"Why did you come back?" I question as we stare into each other's eyes.
"I needed to talk about what happened, but once I got here I saw that girl. You guys had sex didn't you?" No emotion showed in her voice.
I couldn't answer with a yes. I can't even admit to myself that I did that let alone to the girl I love. If I loved her so much why would I do something so stupid?
Brooklyn tries to break out of my hold, but I swiftly pin her against the wall. Our faces were so close.
"Why do you care?" I question. She looks away and I put my hand to her cheek, making her stare into my eyes.
The rain is starting to become cold, but heat radiates off of her body, keeping me warm.
"It hurt," she chokes up. "It hurt way too much to see you with her. I still love you."
I look away.
"Say something please," she stutters.
"Actions speak louder than words," I mumble and put my lips on hers.
Her hands go straight to my wet hair and she pulls at the strands. My hands go to her back and I sneak my hands under her shirt, rubbing small circles on her back. It's not too long before we deepen the kiss and my tongue fights hers.
I fall under her spell again as we kiss in the pouring rain.
