Conversations Are Secrets That I Keep

Late Night

"It's late. You should sleep."

"I can't. I'm wide awake."

"Try closing your eyes. And maybe even dreaming about me."

"Cheesy."

"That's you."

"Haha. That's not helping. I'll wake up and stay all night thinking about you." Jisoo can't help but chuckle on the other end of the line when she heard that from Jennie. "Or I'll never wake up anymore."

"You do love sleeping though. Your mom's hassled enough every time she needs to wake you up."

"I should wake up." She heard the soft yawn elicited by the brunette. "This world needs more beauty in it."

"It has me. It can live off well."

"But you won't have me then..."

The voice was slowly becoming hazy. Jisoo could tell that sleep was overcoming her other half. She let the silence ensues and there' s no point in keeping the conversation going with someone who's already asleep.

"I never do, Jennie. Maybe I never will."

She hung up before the latter replies. Because just like her feelings for her best friend, her confession was left unheard. Just like every night, she'd confess in a whisper. Her late night talks turns into a late night confession.

Because it will always be too late.
