Cobie isn't ready.

He thought he was but he isn't. He's dressed up and ready yet, he couldn't find it in him to actually walk to the door and open it. Things could go wrong today, Cobie was quite sure of this and he doesn't want it to. He wants today to go well. Hell, ever since Erik had called him his mate last night, it felt like he was walking on the clouds. He has this disturbing feeling that the other shoe was about to drop and something was going to go horribly wrong.

He is startled out of his thoughts by a loud knock on the door.

"Cobie?" Erik calls out and Cobie stills.

He knows he looks good. He had on a pair of shirts that stopped mid-thigh and a white shirt tucked into it with a pure black adidas sneakers on his feet. He had brushed his hair and had even applied a bit of oil to it. He glances at himself in the mirror beside him and smiled when he sees his eyes had turned a bright gold.

"Cobie? I know you're in there." Erik calls out again and Cobie wants to walk over to the door but he just couldn't. There was a high possibility that he'd put the entire Silver Moon pack at risk if he stayed here, he'd never be able to forgive himself in Erik or anyone else got hurt because of him. Maybe he should have just gone.

"Do you need me to come in?"

Without hesitation, Cobie replied. "Please."

Erik pushed open the door and walked in. He looked good in his jeans and light blue shirt underneath an unbuttoned plaid shirt that matched the one underneath. He had trimmed his beard and was staring at Cobie with a worried expression on his face.

"Precious, is everything alright?"

Cobie doesn't speak and instead just stared at Erik. He watched the man move close.

"Do you want to reschedule?"

Cobie shakes his head. He wants to speak but he just couldn't seem to find the right words to express himself. Instead he takes a few steps forwards until his nose was buried in Erik's chest. The Alpha doesn't hesitate to pull Cobie tighter, one hand resting on the back of Cobie's neck. He doesn't speak and just held onto Cobie like he was fine china.

"Do you want to stay in today?"

Cobie nods. He really didn't want to go out. The same dreadful feeling was still lurking around in his mind and he couldn't seem to shake it off. He doesn't know what Erik had planned but felt guilty because what f Erik had gone all out? What if he had planned they were to have a picnic and the stuff was already set up?

Maybe he should just go.

"Can we have it in my room though?"

Cobie nods. Why was he finding it hard to speak today? He hadn't felt this way since he was thirteen and his d- no! He wasn't going to think about that today, he wasn't going to do back to that dark place. He was pulled out of his thoughts when Erik pressed a kiss to his nose. He looked at the Alpha with large eyes that were pink, the same colour of blush on his cheeks.

"Got to say, Cobie, your heart is in your eyes. I love it."

Cobie smiled at that, albeit shyly. He was slowly getting comfortable with people looking at his eyes and Erik complementing them. This hasn't happened for years, especially since his father began to force him to wear contacts. Knowing he had to say something, he licks his lips and prayed that his words do come out of his mouth and not just echo in his mind.

"Thank you, Erik."

"I like it when you say my name." Erik says softly, his hands reaching out to take Cobie's hand in his.
