Amethyst and Bliss head into the darkness of the cavern.
As it begins to surround them, Amethyst lights her horn.
"My magic! It's back!" Amethyst cheers.
Bliss manages to fly up.
"My powers are back too!" she says.
Amethyst's purple light guides them down the hall.
More of the mice-like creatures they saw earlier crawl and squeak on the ground beside them.
The light captures rocks on the walls as dark as obsidian.
Eventually, they can see a light at the end, and enter a room with a pool of water separating them from the other side.
On the other side is a transparent barrier blocking the rest of the way, and past it is a valve.
Bliss, thinking it is fragile like glass, charges at full speed into it.
It is undamaged as Bliss feels her shoulder bash into what feels like a wall of metal.
"Ow!" she shouts.
"Are you alright?" Amethyst calls out.
Bliss touches her shoulder and winces as a needle of pain stabs it.
"Yeah. I guess we can't break through this wall," she sighs.
Amethyst tries using a laser from her horn, but the wall absorbs it instead.
She places a hoof on her chin.
Bliss watches as the pony glides the same hoof through the crystal blue water.
It is met by a sharp freezing bite.
Amethyst zips her limb out of the pool.
Then she notices there is a passage through the wall under the water's surface.
The mare turns to Bliss, hoping she has found any other route around the wall.
However, the girl returns her perplexed look.
Amethyst lowers her head and sighs.
"I guess we need to swim through the water," she groans.
The two crawl to the very edge of the platform, mere centimeters away from the clear water.
Amethyst stiffens her legs, bracing for freezing piranhas to come and ravage all over her body.
She glances at Bliss, who crouches unsteadily on the edge.
"We'll jump on three. Ready?" Amethyst asks.
"One, two, three!" they say together before jumping in.
Coldness rushes up their bodies and the flowing of liquid fills their ears.
Amethyst opens her eyes, and sees the walls around her are colored in the water's crystal blue.
Then she nudges Bliss and points to the exit.
The girl nods and follows the unicorn.
Amethyst rips her arms through the water, tearing towards the way out.
Her lungs begin to tighten up as the last ounces of oxygen they have are being spent.
When they are as tight as they can possibly be, Amethyst swims into the exit.
Once she reaches the other side of the wall, she rockets out of the water and takes a deep gasp of air.
Bliss appears beside her shortly after.
They climb out of the water, uncontrollably shuddering.
Water drips off of their bodies as they approach the valve.
It is scarred with rust, and some of its silver paint is chipped off.
Bliss grunts as she turns the rusty valve, which squeaks as she does.
Suddenly the water in the pool suddenly begins to drain out, flowing into an open hole at the bottom.
In a few seconds, the pool is an empty pit.
A door behind Amethyst and Bliss slides open, and beams of sunlight fill the room as a way back outside into the desert is revealed.
"Well, we found our way through," Bliss says.
"But with no gem," Amethyst sighs.
They walk into the warmth of the desert, which cures their shuddering.
The comfort only lasts a few minutes, before the heat presses onto their bodies.
Amethyst plucks fruit off of a cactus with her magic and gives one of them to Bliss.
Then they move to their meeting spot, the largest cacti, and sit down in the protection of the shadows to wait.
Bliss takes a bite out of the pink fruit.
"Maybe the others are having better luck," she says.
