Cassie's POV

I carry mom into the house when we back and lay her on her bed in the guest room, setting up an alarm to get her up in an hour and go to Axe's office to give him a run down of everything that happened while we were there.

"Hey. How'd it go?" Axe says, opening the door wider for me to come in. Whiskey, Caspian and the Beta are already in the room.

"It went pretty good. I can now say I have been introduced to my father and both of my grandfathers as well as my uncle. Luckily I didn't have to talk to my father much. I got to know my grandfathers and uncles pretty well and they seem like pretty ok people. Just like we discussed, we went straight to the house and straight back. No problems were encountered. But I do have to talk to my mother about having a civil conversation with my father." I say giving them a simple briefing.

"Do you think she'll go for it?" Whiskey says gruffly, not liking the idea of mom being upset.

"'I think she will if I ask it of her. I wouldn't want to upset her either, Whiskey, but I also think that he deserves a chance to talk to her about the subject." I say looking at him. Mom always gave me the choice to meet him, but now that he's met me, I want to give him the chance to understand why I stayed away. It's only fair that I give him a slight chance to actually meet me. It may be the only chance he'll ever get.

"I'll tell you what. I'll bet the one accompanying you tomorrow and, if your mother agrees to it, we'll meet him at a small cafe on my grounds so no one from his pack has the opportunity to stick their noses where it doesn't belong. I can mind link the pack to stay away from the cafe for a little while and we can have a private conversation. He can use the excuse of coming to see me so less questions are asked." Axe says leaning back in his chair and putting his feet on his desk.

"That sounds good. I'll talk to mom about it when she gets up from her nap. Is there anything else we need to discuss?" I ask.

"You said you met both of your grandfathers. Does that mean that you met your fathers father as well?" Axe asks with a raised brow.

"Yes. He heard that my mother was back in town and he was the only one who knew about her rejection and the fact that my father was her mate. He didn't know she was pregnant but, then again, neither did she until she was already in Oregon. He is extremely disappointed in his son for rejecting my mother. His family always loved her and if it hadn't been for her being rejected, they would have taken her in and let her continue her doctor career in the pack." I say a bit of sadness leaking into my voice at the thought of all that my mother went through.

"Your mother is very brave, dear. She was and always has been a very smart girl. She'll make it out of this with he best outcome. She always does. I mean, she got you." Whiskey says coming over to hug me. I smile into his shoulder.

"Guys, time to wash up for dinner. Cassie, sweetie, your mother woke up. She says thank you for the alarm." Cassandra says, knocking on the door.

"We'll be out in just a minute. The rest of you can go ahead and head out. I just wanna talk to these two about the plan for tomorrow." Whiskey says clapping Axe and I on the shoulders.

"Just don't take too long, Whiskey." Caspian says and gives his wife and mate a nice kiss.

"I make no promises." He says with a smile and closes the door before the smile is wiped off his face. "Alright children. Sit." We both do and with raised brows. "Now how long do you two plan on hiding that you're mates?"

"How'd you know?" Axe asks sitting up in his chair.

"I know what a pair of mates looks like." Whiskey says, but I know the truth.
