we closed our eyes
and prepared for the storm
skeletons of butterflies
which fluttered inside of me once
you were supposed to heal my heart
but you just stabbed it and ripped me apart
you promised to stay
forever and ever, oh boy
and much to my dismay
you broke that cliche hope
we'll die together, old and happy
but my soul is out of my body already
years and years have passed
wanting to know the truth
forever flew away so fast
felt as if it was only seconds
we shared those secrets with no doubts
now I don't know about your whereabouts
my mind so young
to apologise for my existence
you let it slip off your tongue
that's what makes me so insecure
now I realise what exactly you meant
a very short forever, not exactly what I dreamt
∞ ∞ ∞
many people promise to stay forever. only some do that.
