Stephano’s POV

*

“I only ever had one boyfriend and that was in high school.” I had an idea who that would be. The damn son of a gun, he was so loud and threw parties a lot.

“Victor Dimitri.”

Kara gasped. “How did you know?”

I was taken aback, surprised she would ask such a question. Of course I would know, I had someone watching her because ...just in case he tried anything funny. He was in the streets, so I had to watch out for Kara’s safety.

Kara didn’t tell Kara’s mom until she was close to breaking up with him and even on her fifteenth birthday, I had to drag her out of the boy’s room where she was drunkenly making out with the stupid boy. Had it been that I got my hands on him, I would have given him the beating of his life for making her get drunk.

He was close to having sex with her that night and the mere thought had my blood boiling!

“You wouldn’t stop talking about him.” The words easily flowed past my lips.

“Well, that was the only relationship I ever had.”

“Any latest crush?”

Her eyes instantly widened. Her smile stretched so wide I was afraid her face would tear for lack of more space. “Oh. I already developed crush on so many celebrities over the years. Number one is Justin Bieber, then Michael B Jordan, also Shawn Mendes, then Harry Styles-”

Ma che diavolo? Harry styles?!
Then also, Michael B. Jordan! That damn guy with his stupid charms was making Kara swoon over him!

And that scrawny looking kid named Justin, thinking he had the whole world because he had some manageable sharp features and could sing. I didn’t like the feeling that accompanied the sight of her when she smiled brightly as she spoke to no end about them all. She was practically glowing!

“Are you alright? You’re clenching your fist.” Kara asked with a frown and gently unwrapped my fisted hand. I had no idea I’d even balled my fist. It was quite hurtful that she had no feelings for me but had feelings for those that she would probably never physically meet.

“It’s okay. I’ll ask another question.” I spoke gruffly.

The smile returned as if she remembered something. “I still have other male celebrities that I haven’t told yo-”

“Leave it alone Kara.”

She paused for a while, with a calculating look that made my eyes glaze over as the thought of me grabbing and kissing her flashed for a brief moment. “Er...are you jealous?”

“Yes Kara, of course I’m jealous because you belong to me.” I didn’t miss a beat. I wanted to pull her close to me and just leave her in my arms, our chests pressed against each other while our lips made sweet, tantalizing love.

My eyes clouded with hunger as I stared her lips. Those lips were full on pink and they looked so soft, almost as if they were whispering for me to make love to them all day long. Kara suddenly burst into laughter. It wasn’t funny, and I would have laughed with her but not when she was talking about other guys.

She scooted closer to me. “Stephano, you don’t have to get jealous. I’m here with you and not with them.” Gesu, I smiled at her assuring tone. My name on her lips was the only thing I wanted to keep hearing. It was so soft and sweet, just like honey being fed from the hands of a caring mother.

“Come here Kara.” I muttered in a husky tone.

“Stephano, do you realize we’re currently on a deserted road?” She looked around warily.

“I won’t do anything like making out with you. I promise.” Even though that was exactly what I wanted to do.

She moved closer and I quickly grabbed her hands to place on my thighs before she would change her mind. “I’m a man Kara, and I also like good things.”

“So what does that mean?” Her voice was like that of a confused little girl as she questioned me with a frown; my anger from earlier immediately dissipated. I inhaled the sweet strawberry sent of her cologne as peace surrounded me.

Kara was like a light. She made me better than what I usually presented myself to be and her being around calmed me in a way that should rather scare me. She had too much effect without even knowing it. I would willingly give her whatever she demanded of me, yet she was so oblivious.

“It means having you with me is a good thing, and you are one of the good achievements I can tell about myself so far. So I would surely get jealous if you talk about all those ugly looking men.” I grumbled.

“They aren’t ugly.” She giggled freely.

“So...I’m the ugly one, si?” I couldn’t hide the disappointment from my tone. No woman ever refused me. They usually put me before any other man and they would never dare praise another man before me.

In fact, they made sure I knew what they thought of me; handsome, rugged and a heartbreaker. But I didn’t care about them. Kara’s opinion mattered more, even though that wasn’t healthy because my happiness should never depend on someone’s opinion about me.

“You aren’t. You were always one of the most handsome men when I was very much younger; with you on ninety nine, Giuliano on Ninety, and my dad on hundred percent.”

My heart felt like it would burst when I heard this. So, Kara thought of me as good looking all these while. And even as a little girl, I’d been next to her father who was ranked the most handsome.

I felt a bit envious of her father for being the most handsome on her childish list but I was glad I was number two. Not Justin Bieber or Michael B. Jordan but me! Kara’s eyes widened after she spoke and it was obvious she hadn’t thought about it before speaking but I was glad about what she said.

If possible, my love for her intensified and I chuckled. “Thank you Kara.”

I called James to start the car. “Where to Sir?”

I faced Kara. “I wanted to take you to the fair but that would wait till I have you all to myself. I have a business meeting and you’ll be accompanying me.”

I didn’t give her time to object as I ordered James to start the car and texted Doctor Pierce to inform him that something had been brought in for Natalie by her daughter and she should take it when she wakes up.

“I’m not even dressed for that kind of setting.” Kara grumbled. I pulled her closer to me.

“You’re perfect Kara Mio. For me, you’re just perfect.” I raised her head up by the chin and kissed her pouting lips, making my tongue linger on the seam of her upper lip as I contemplated making out with her. If I used my skills well enough, she would completely be at my mercy. But I remembered promising not to make out with her and my jaws clenched in reflex.

Next time, I wouldn’t dare make any such promise
