I can barely keep my eyes open while I'm in the shower the next morning. I wish I could say I regret staying up to talk to him— but I don't. Even through the first few moments my alarm clock was blaring I could assure you it was worth every moment.

I have my textbook open while I do my makeup. I don't glance at it once— and it's on the wrong page— but it's open. I play around with my face, looking into my small mirror on my desk. I decide to wear my glasses today. It's supposed to be cool with a slight chill of spring air and I'm all for it. I grab an outfit I wouldn't typically wear because if I'm risking my grades I'm risking it all.

Being the dramatic queen I'm attempting to be, I take a few selfies to update my Twitter for the morning.

When I'm content with the way I look, I head downstairs to where my parents are eating breakfast. I'm humming to myself as I open the fridge to grab strawberries.

"Well good morning," my dad says. My back is to him as I'm digging through all my brother's puddings and string cheese.

When I finally get my strawberries I turn to face him, "Sorry. I'm so tired. And nervous. I have a final today."

"I know," he is reading the newspaper like we're on a television show, "Will you do well?"

I close the refrigerator and walk towards the kitchen counter. My mother is eating cereal and just listening like she usually does. It's when I say something she disapproves with that she will speak up.

I grab a knife to cut off the stems of my fruits. I'm sophisticated and eat them cut up with a fork during my lunch break—okay?

"I think so," I lie confidently, "How's work?"

I'm hoping my deflection will work. I'm not looking at him but I'm sure he is surprised I asked him about his job. My father is barely ever home. He is usually away at business conventions or whatever the hell he does. When he is home, I'm usually asleep or pretending to be while I watch videos.

"Great," he says smugly, "Are you wearing my shirt?"

I furrow my eyebrows to myself and look down. Sure, my shirt is a bit oversized — It also looks like a male collared shirt— But is it dad material?
