***Tristan's POV***

"This does not look like the place in the brochure," Mae said, removing the red colored plastic from covering her face. I untied my shoes near the front door and kicked them off my feet.

I turned around and studied the room. Where Mae stood with her plethora of suitcases, was a small bar/kitchen. The room was lit by the wood fire at the middle of the living area. There was a television in front of the black leather couch. Beside the couch there was a grand piano overlooking the window view of the entire lodge that we were staying at.

I may or may not have paid a little extra for an upgrade.

By the time we had set up the puppy's things (which consisted of all her bedding, her toys and even paper for her to do her business on) it was nearly midnight. I popped open the bottle of red wine that was in the bar fridge. Sometimes the prices of these things were rip offs, and now was one of those times. But it almost didn't matter to me.

The puppy loudly ruffled around the cabin with various toys in her mouth. Mae had gone to the bathroom to change into some more warmer clothes so that she was less likely to freeze in the snow. That was probably an appropriate idea.

I poured two glasses of red wine and shuffled over to the piano, with the light of the fire the only thing that aided my eyes to see in the dark. I placed the glasses on the top of the piano and slipped in between the seat and the keys.

She came back moments later. I softly placed the fingers of my one hand on the keys to play a soft beat that was repetitive yet relaxing.

She made her way over to the piano and picked up the glass of red wine. Her face screwed up after taking one sip. I remember when wine felt that new to me too.

I continued to play the soft keys on the piano whilst she focused her attention on the puppy rolling across the floor quietly.

I continued to a familiar beat of one of my favorite songs. It started off with a plain beginning. When I reached the beginning of the lyrics, I softly sang along.

'There is a house built out of stone
Wooden floors, walls and window sills
Tables and chairs worn by all of the dust
This is a place where I don't feel alone
This is a place where I feel at home'

I sped up the playing of my fingers on the keys to match the beat. Mae turned around from watching the puppy and continued to sing the song that I believed was unknown to her. Until now.

'Cause, I built a home
For you
For me'

We continued singing the next verse together as she travelled closer to the piano. I was not only surprised but actually blown away by the tone in her voice. She had never properly sung in front of me, and now that I was hearing it I was mesmerized.

I channeled my focus back to the piano as she sang a portion of the song to herself. She traced towards the piano set where she sat alongside me on the small stool. She continued to sing.

'Out in the garden where we planted the seeds
There is a tree as old as me
Branches were sewn by the color of green
Ground had arose and passed it's knees'

I continued the next faint verse.

'By the cracks of the skin I climbed to the top
I climbed the tree to see the world
When the gusts came around to blow me down
I held on as tightly as you held onto me
I held on as tightly as you held onto me'

I pressed my hand over hers on the piano so I could teach her the keys as the beat got faster again. I watched her face light up as she smiled at the thought of her own hands playing the correct keys; with my guidance of course. She continued the rest of the beat so now the song sounded proper with another hand as only one of mine worked.

"How do you know that song?" I asked. I thought it was a song that only I had discovered recently. It was one of my favorite songs.

"It's always been one of my favorites," she grinned. The flickering light of the fire highlighted the features on the left side of her face as she turned her eyes to meet mine. My hand continued to rest on hers. Her hand was so soft and so dainty. It was smaller than mine.

Her breathing was so warm on my chin as she leant in to leave a soft kiss on my lips. I drew my lips to her forehead, where I left a long, soft kiss. She was so precious.

I felt her heavy eyelids flicker on my cheek as her eyelashes tickled across my skin. It was getting late and we should probably get to bed if we wanted to get up at any sort of decent hour tomorrow.

I put out the fire and quietly put the puppy to bed as Mae climbed into the bed on the opposite side of the room. We both fell asleep entangled in limbs within minutes of lying alongside one another.
