what love is

Thought love would be everything
Recited by tattered hearts and stinging tongues;
Thought love was an epitome of devils
Got together to poison our lives and souls.

But love quietly seeped through my heart,
Changing its dimensions and angles and arcs;
Painting red all the corners of my heart
Where mere blood failed to reach and work.

Thought love is true in books only;
Happiness from it, a sin to think.
It would be luring around the corner with spades
To scoop away all the smiles from faces.

But love touched all the wounds from war
Which I had fought with this cruel and crooked world.
It kissed away all broken arms and blue eyes,
Hiding away all my scars from the eyes of the shrewd.

Thought love would rule every step of mine,
Taunting and mocking when I fail to give it time,
Demanding to be placed at the top of my throat
And demeaning all my affection as mere worthless dust.

But love proved all my beliefs wrong
It brought about magic and worth for true,
Not distraction, it served an inspiration to my soul
And with a slight smile, it whispers,

"Even after all your doubts, I'm still here to shower you with all my affection and love."

Author's note:

love is love after everything. it is never demanding, or demeaning or heart-breaking. it is never distraction but an inspiration. it is indeed everything written in books. it is magic. it is beautiful.

and please don't defame it. respect it and it shall cherish you forever.
