Pastor Jerry's P.O.V
A giggle escaped Pastor Jerry's mouth as he watched Jerry and his family load themselves into the car and drive away. Jerry was excited. It had been a long time since he had been brought onto a house call. Jerry loved house calls cause of midst of the families' panicked states, they never noticed when anything went missing. Sure there was an actual demon to take care of this time but that's just business.
Twirling on the back of his heal, Jerry turned around and pointed at the projection. "THE POWer Of The CHURCH ComPEls You!... Right after I take a look around." Jerry added quietly, glancing up the stairs. Taking one look back at the locked doors, Pastor Jerry began to wander up the stairs, looking out for anything worth taking that no one would really notice. While making his way past the pictures framed on the wall, the pastor was reminded of the old guy who went into the garage earlier. Pastor Jerry thought for a moment. He didn't see the family leave with the old man but then again, the guy looked so old he doubted he'd be much of a problem.
Reaching the top of the stairs, Pastor Jerry made a beeline for the first door he could see; the doorway to the master bedroom. Pushing the door aside with his arm, Jerry stepped into the room and looked around. Unfortunately for him, there wasn't much to look at. Instead of expensive heirlooms or decoration, the set up of the room was rather simplistic. Jerry frowned and walked over to the wardrobe in the corner. Opening it all the way, Jerry spotted a small jewelry box tucked behind a pile of shirts. "Bingo." He said, a sly smile across his face.
Stuffing his pockets with a few pieces of jewelry that he assumed wouldn't be missed, Pastor Jerry continued through the upstairs rooms, taking small but expensive looking trinkets as he saw fit. Approaching the last room on the floor, a grin spread across his face as he pushed the door to what appeared to be the young boy's room wide open. "Oh ho ho! What do we have here?". He asked, stepping through the doorway.
Pastor Jerry knew his way around a boy's room well. Marching over to the bed, Jerry reached under the mattress until he felt the familiar texture of magazines on his fingertips. Pulling out the magazines from under the mattress, Pastor Jerry began to flip through the various pictures, heart rate rising by the second. "Oh my!" Jerry said, breath heavy. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his chest and he let out a large gasp. At the same time, Jerry heard a voice call out from downstairs. "Hey Beth? Y/N? I'm back!"
Pastor Jerry's eyes stared desperately at the door as he struggled to consolidate his remaining strength. He needed help. Using the last of his strength, Jerry moaned loudly before collapsing into a heap of cloth and stolen jewelry as everything went black.
Rick's P.O.V
Rick exited the portal, small alien shopping bag in hand. "Hey Beth? Y/N? I'm back!" He yelled, looking around the living room and kitchen. Finding no one but the projection, Rick shrugged and pulled out the new device from his bag. Pressing a few buttons, Rick activated the machine and tossed it at the projection. The blue being let out one final scream before, in a flash of light, it was sucked into the device and the living room returned to normal. "Ugh. Glad thhhhhaaaaatttttsss over." Rick said to himself, burping loudly.
However, before he could lay back on the sofa and call it a day, Rick heard a strange moan from upstairs. Rick furrowed his brow. He had taken care of the projection so what was that?
Walking upstairs, Rick noticed a small earring laying just outside Morty's door. Picking it up, Rick turned it over in his hands. It was one of Y/N's old earrings that she had given to Beth when she first had her ears pierced. Beth loved those earrings. Rick raised an eyebrow. But she hadn't worn them in years. Why was one on the ground and where was the other?
Rick turned his head and look into the open door of Morty's room at the still mass laying on the ground. "Oh...". Rick said. It didn't take him long to figure out everything just from the sight of the jewelry, magazines, and newly deceased. He quickly look a step back and leaned out the door of Morty's room, looking back and forth in case anyone was to walk by. Finding the coast clear, Rick quickly pulled out his portal gun, opening up a portal to a dimension filled with human eating bacteria.
Emptying the shady pastor's pockets of his families' belongings, Rick grunted and lifted the newly dead man into the green light and through the portal, being careful not to pass through the portal himself.
Once the body had fully disappeared from view, the portal closed and Rick let out a sigh, a little out of breath from all that body-lifting. Rick then turned his eyes to the magazines spread out on the floor. He knew Morty well enough to know that he wouldn't be as dumb as to leave those pleasurable abominations out in the open.Returning the magazines underneath Morty's bed, Rick scooped up the jewelry and small trinkets in both arms, careful not to leave anything behind, and exited the room.
~45 minutes later~
Rick lay on the sofa, arms on the backrest as he sat with his legs up on the table. In front of his eyes, BoostFeed Solved began to play it's familiar theme song as the two hosts were portrayed exploring various 'haunted' locations.
Hearing a click from the direction of the front door, Rick turned his head in time to see Y/N, Beth, Jerry, Summer, and Morty make their way into the house. They all stopped, surprised to see Rick simply staring at them with not a Pastor Jerry to be seen. Jerry looked up at the ceiling then back to Rick. "Did I or...". He pointed to himself then to Rick. Rick shrugged and brought his flask to his lips. "I ain't saying a thing." "So the pastor did it?!?" Jerry asked, his breath escalating.
Rick didn't bother to reply. For some reason though, Jerry seemed to take this a a victory. "Oh my gosh!" He grabbed Beth by the shoulders. "Pastor Jerry did it! I did it!" Beth giggled and shared a quick kiss with her husband as Summer and Morty gave a equally quick compliment. "Good job sweetie! Got to say though, I really wasn't expecting him to be able to do it... but I'm glad I put my trust in you."
Rick swallowed his drink and noticed Y/N staring at him, one brow furrowed in confusion while the other was tilted in surprise. That look. That look meant she wanted answers. Under normal circumstances Rick would love to brag about his victory but he figured this once, he'd stay quiet. He's really have to bring up the priest anyhow. Rick only shrugged and went back to his drink. "Oh by the way Jerry. Turns out the pastor was a day away from retirement so he uh... he won't be answering any more calls from you." Rick said in-between sips. Jerry didn't seem to mind. Instead, he laughed. "Fine by me! After this little victory, I'm more emotionally stable than ever!"
A/N: OK, I know for a while now my writing involving this story has kinda been going downhill (especially this chapter). Now I do have a lot going on (collage, other stories and my own original comics, etc.) but I think the main reason is namely that I haven't felt as inspired to write this in quite some time. As I result, I'll be taking a few weeks off form this story to collect my thoughts as I rather make smaller numbers of good content than large amounts of bad content. I don't quite know how many weeks I'll be taking off from this but it will prob be around 4 or 5. I know this might be disappointing but like I said; Quality over Quantity.
Thanks for understanding,
