MACKENZIE'S POV:

(Monday morning, at the Orlando house).

"Lauren, wake up," I mutter.

It was the morning, I'm attempting to wake up my child without having her burst into tears. She's 3, and she still cries as much as a newborn baby would.

Lauren's eyes flutter open, an innocent smile appearing on her face. She lets out a cute little giggle, moving her tiny little hands up and down.

Oh, how innocent she is. Just wait till Middle school, little child. It's 2018, there's 12 year-olds reading smut all the time.

I pick her up, heading down the stairs. Once I sit on the couch, I place her on my lap.

I couldn't help but admire her face.

She looks nothing like me. She looks much like Johnny though. She has his gorgeous thick eyebrows, with the pale skin. She also got her dirty blonde hair from Johnny, my husband.

I wanted to name the baby Lauren because the word 'Lauren' is the English version of the Irish name: Lorcan. It means fierce.

I want Lauren to be fierce when she's older. Strong. Independent. I want her to find love like I found love.

I hear footsteps coming down the stairs. I turn my head, to see Johnny.

He dated my best friend, Annie, in the ninth grade. But then he realized he had feelings for me. Annie was fine with it because she secretly had feelings for his best friend, Hayden.

We began dating in the tenth grade. He also told me he loved me in the tenth grade. When we were 19, he proposed. We were finished school and had already moved into an apartment. Once I turned 21, I found out I was pregnant.

We were both extremely happy with the news. I've always wanted a child. I'd prefer a girl over a guy, so I'm glad Lauren came to me.

Annie and Hayden began dating in the ninth grade. And surprisingly, their relationship has lasted too. They aren't married yet, and they don't live together either.

It's not weird between Annie and Johnny. As far as I know, they lost all the feelings they had for each other. And they didn't feel much. Johnny just simply thought Annie was pretty.

Annie and Nadia have been my best friends since the eighth grade.

It was originally a group of 5, with Brynn and Maisy, but we eventually drifted apart from those two after high school.

"Good morning," he lazily whispered, kissing my cheek.

I smiled, while Lauren escaped my hold and began running off to the kitchen.

"How is everything?" Johnny asks, interlocking our fingers.

I hesitated for a second but spoke. "Good."

I was going to say 'perfect'. But not everything was perfect.

Johnny hasn't been helping out at all with Lauren.

It's been 3 years, and he refuses to help with anything. He still acts like he's in high school. He plays video games all day and goes over to Hayden's house.

I've been left doing all the work. I change her diapers, feed her, bring her to daycare, buy her clothes, everything.

Johnny's parents owned a pretty popular company, so all the money got transferred to Johnny after his dad passed. Both of us don't have to work. And that's good because neither of us did well in high school.

I didn't have the heart to tell him about his lack of help with Lauren. He doesn't even notice. He's just so sweet, I don't want him to try so hard to impress me.

I'm his wife. I love him. Always have, always will. And besides, I don't mind taking care of Lauren.

I can handle her. She cries a lot but isn't super energetic like most 3-year-olds.

The bell rings, it reminded me an awful lot of high school. I flinched but realized it was just the house bell.

Johnny let go of my hand, getting up from his seat. "I forgot to tell you. Annie, Nadia, and Hayden are coming."

I nodded my head, as he went to the door and welcomed them in.

Nadia, Annie, and Hayden walked in. Annie and Nadia approached me, while Johnny and Hayden did some sort of handshake. Boys.

The 3 of us began talking.

I couldn't help but notice Annie was acting a bit off.

It's just little things. Like, she never made any jokes. She usually does. She also didn't talk much, she's usually a blabbermouth.

She slumped into her chair the whole time, frowning while listening to Nadia and I talk about life.

Even though it's quite awkward sometimes between Annie and I, because of Johnny. She's still my best friend, I love her and I care for her. I hate seeing her hurt.

Hayden was taking care of Lauren the whole time, she was seated on his lap. As usual, Johnny didn't help out with her.

Even though my life isn't perfect, it's good enough.

I'm married to the love of my life. I have a beautiful, healthy child, and best friends that I would do anything for.

A happy family is all that matters. Even though Johnny and I have our problems, they don't get in the way of our love.

Oh, how wrong I was. I wasn't prepared for what happened the next day.

To think my life became messed up after would be an understatement.
