*Copeland's POV*

I'm done for sure. I'm not letting him know who I am. I guess I'm stuck rejecting him. I hope he doesn't take it to the heart.

---

It was a Tuesday afternoon, and I had a shitload of homework to do. So I realize I can't go anyway. But I still want to. I was sitting on the couch doing my math when my phone buzzed next to me. I looked at my text.

Bryan.

Oh no. He's probably asking me if we're still on for later. I sighed and read the text.

Query: Hey, so what time do ya want me to pick u up?

Me: umm, well see the thing is...I can't necessarily go.

Query: oh...

There was disappointment in his text. I could feel it.

Query: is there a specific reason why or???

I closed my eyes, not wanting to reply to his message. I was picturing him not understanding if I tell him. Should I tell him? No, I can't. But...

Query: Danielle, u there? he said sending me another text.

Me: Oh yeah. Uh...

I really wanna tell him. I trust him. He's a real sweet heart and he wouldn't hurt a fly, right? Right?!

Me: I need to tell you something, but promise you won't tell anyone? I mean really don't even mention it towards other ppl.

Query: okay

That's it? I need more than that.

Me: no, I mean I need ur trust 2 know that u will keep ur word

Query: u have my word

Oh my God. He texted me that so damn quick! Ugh, that doesn't help. I'm honestly so nervous to tell him who I am.

Me: kk...wait, can u call me in like 3 mins? I need 2 pee

Query: okay

I threw my phone on my bed and sprinted to the bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror and stared at my reflection. Should I tell him? I don't know. But I have his trust. I can do it. Just remember what you're doing I told myself.

I came back and my phone was vibrating. But it wasn't Bryan that was calling me. It was my dad.

"Dad?"

"Yeah, Cope, I'm not coming home till late today. So don't wait up, alright? Mom will be home late too. She called me and said she's working late for Anthem Made. And I'm busy working on this new album."

I'm home by myself for the whole night? Boring. "Alright. Wait, what time do you think you will be home?"

"Late. That's all I can say."

"And how about the time for mom?"

"Probably around the time I come home."

"Okay, bye, dad," I said warmly.

"Bye, baby." And he hung up. If he's coming home late with my mom, then maybe I can hang out with Bryan after I tell him my secret. I won't be so nervous anymore.

My phone vibrated again. My hands were cold and clammy. I pressed the green button.

"Hey."

"Hey, are you okay?" he said sounding concerned.
